Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
My name is Kate. I have fought with my weight as long as I can remember. Ever since I can remember, I have been heavier than average. I was able to lose weight by my senior year of high school, at my lowest, I weighed 135 lbs or so. My goal is to get back to that weight by December 2010. But I want to lose 25 to 30 lbs by June/July of 2010.
I started here last January and have lost a total of 25 lbs since then. I started at a very scary 185lbs. For me, I felt humongous. I know I have a lot of muscle weight in there, but I was very unhappy with myself. I did lose the weight by my wedding, and would have liked to lose more by then. But I can't go back, so here I am to lose more.
I ended up gaining most of the weight back since I stopped exercising in May and eating whatever I want. Before I weighed myself I thought I had gained it all back, I feel so gross. I stopped exercising because I was out of energy all the time and the exercises weren't benefiting me any longer. I went to the doctor and discovered that I was dangerously low on vitamin D and Iron. I'm now taking vitamins to prevent that from happening again, and am very excited to start exercising. I miss that hour every day that was just for me, made me feel good about myself, and energized me. It is so wonderful to have that time to put headphones in (or earplugs!) so I can find my own thoughts and feel like myself!
I am on the phone all day at work taking care of other people, and have very ambitious goals that I work on when I'm not at work. Time for myself is precious, and I'm taking it back!
So as of today I am going to start, yet again, with a weight loss goal. I am so, so tired of trying and putting all my effort into this and not getting anywhere... so here I go again on my own. It takes 14 days to create a habit, so my short term goal is to exercise 30 min every day for 14 days so it will stick. After I develop a good exercise habit, I'll tackle eating healthier.
Weigh 145-150 lbs by Nov 26th.
Weigh 140-135 lbs by Dec 20th.
Eat less processed foods, more vegetables, fruits, and fresh foods.
I am tracking everything i eat, gradually decreasing fat and calories each week, no fewer than 1200 calories a day.
I am drinking 8 (8oz) glasses of water a day while limiting soda to 3 cans a week.
I also plan to exercise 30 minutes a day, park further away, and take the stairs instead of the elevator.
I am from Minnesota and have moved to Colorado last summer.
I love reading and am hooked on the Gilmore Girls. I would love to look like Lauren Graham, and hope it is within this year's reach!
I have finally set a wedding date for August 8th of this year. Now I really have to adhere to the diet! I have a dress to fit into, dang it!
I am currently re-reading "The Power of Now" and applying its philosophy to my diet and exercise...
I have also read "A New Earth" both books are by Eckhart Tolle. They are amazing books that will change your life and point of view in the world if you are ready.

I am graduating with my bachelors in, say, four weeks. Most of my past work deal with post-production photography, digital illustration/photomanipulation and corporate identity. I am hoping to have my site up soon.
It's a scary time for desigers, isn't it? I worked as a commercial artist in a small firm for a few years while at school and while small businesses are easier to handle, it is not something I can see myself doing for the rest of my life. I also have my student loans to consider...so your plan sounds pretty good to me, as well.
As for your portfolio - keep it flexible. Gotta change it with every interview. A firm that handles a lot of corporate stuff (identity, branding, annual reports and everyday design needs) sounds like your best bet (judging from the one piece you've uploaded).
You can see some samples of my work at www.vilyawen.deviantart.com I haven't uploaded anything in ages... I'm working on my own site right now, though.
As for weight loss...I did not exercise enough this week and my scale is showing the results...or rather, not showing any results at all. But hey, tomorrow is a new day, there's no way I'm going back! and CONGRATS for losing 10 pounds! You're on your way and an inspiration!

Good to meet a fellow graphic designer! Loved the ad campagne you posted, very clean!
Don't give up with your weight loss goals, you are doing very well.. Much like you said, it's an unavoidable fact - some weeks may show less results even though you are doing everything right. Hang in there.
Keep in touch! I'd love to see more of your work!

I would have a very hard time getting out of bed if I knew there was snow waiting for me outside :) Hopefully I will get better at getting up early.
