What a great perspective. There is no failure. I have not failed at my attempts at weight-loss; I've just found 10,000 ways that DON'T work! Weight-loss pills, starvation, purging, laziness, apathy, hoping, wishing...

This is it. This is my final attempt, my final "experiment." And I know that I will succeed because weight-loss isn't about cutting corners with magic pills, it isn't about wishful thinking. Weight-loss starts with one thing and that's healthy living. There are no big secrets to weight-loss. Just eat right, exercise, and live actively.

I've always been a larger person. In grades 7 & 8, I was harassed on a daily basis by two boys in my class. They called me "pig" and "hippo" and I believed them. I skipped school and became depressed. My teacher saw what happened every day and did nothing about it (This is one of the reasons why I'm going to school to be a teacher - because I want to be a supportive teacher for that difficult age-group - the opposite of what my teacher was to me). I began eating less and less and would wake up in the middle of the night with hunger pains. I ended up going to a different high school from everyone I knew to make a fresh start. I actually had a really great high school experience!

But, as always, I struggled with my weight. I never really tried anything seriously (until now) because I kept thinking about that ultimate goal and it was overwhelming to think about how much I had to lose to be healthy. I've realized now that I have to set smaller goals during the journey in order to celebrate small successes and make the ultimate goal less cumbersome.

So what brought me to the point to do it the right way? I felt uncomfortable and bloated in my clothes and in my own skin. I found it difficult to breath sometimes. I didn't have energy. And the kid I looked after was shocked to discover that I am not, in fact, pregnant (nor do I plan to be any time soon!).

I hate papercuts and cringe every time I think about them.

The inside of peppers really grosses me out. I don't know what it is, but that seed covered middle gives me the creeps.

I love reading. I read about a book a week.

I absolutely love photography.

My husband and I got married on our 7 year anniversary when I was 21. Yes - that means I was 14 when we started dating.

I was born on my Mom's birthday - November 20.
