What you said, "It's not really about the pounds it's more about knowing I'll be strong enough for whatever comes next. " expresses my own desire and motivation: to know I've done what I could, all things considered, to prepare for whatever crosses my path ... which could be an opportunity (I want to be prepared for those as well as for dificulties/challenges/trauma).
One of my favorite quotations since childhood is Presdient Abraham Lincoln's saying long before he was in any political arena, "I will study and prepare myself; and some day, my chance will come."
As the new calendar year begins, here's to studying our physical training and preparing ourselves - our day is at hand!
