Making This Last For Life

After losing nearly 70 pounds with help from Sparkpeople (old screen name: rw1647), I fell back into bad habits and gained back 30 of it...sigh. But I'm back and determined to get back down to 170, where I felt comfortable and secure with my body (and where I can wear all the new clothes I bought and loved.... ).

But I'm back and determined to get back down to 170, where I felt comfortable and secure with my body (and where I can wear all the new clothes I bought and loved.... ).
Seasonal depression, a lot of stress (good and bad) and a general fall back into old bad habits have made this a lot more a struggle than the first time around, but I am determined to not let what is going on around me effect my self-esteem and health. So my dogs and I are taking to the streets and getting back in shape after this long winter.

My Goals:
~to weigh 180 lbs by June and reevaluate my goals after that.
~to exercise for at least 35 minutes on at least 5 days a week.
~to do strength training at least 3 days a week
~to make it to the gym at least twice a week
~to feel strong and healthy and confident in myself.
~to fit (comfortably) into the size 10 clothes I have!

My Program:
~I'm following a whole-food, low-starch, vegetarian and dairy-free eating plan, similar to Dr. Furhman's Eat to Live plan, only with eggs, mostly because i keep chickens...

~I am exercising for at least 30-35 minutes every week day and will expand this to every day once the weather is more reliable. I am also going to the gym at least twice a week and doing an additional 30-60 minutes of cardio there each visit.

~Strength training 3 times per week, including at least 300 crunches per week.

~ journaling and working on conscious eating and emotional awareness around my eating "issues"

Personal Information:
I'm from Arlington, MA and am now living in Syracuse, NY.

Other Information:
My favorite things are my pets (all animals really), gardening, reading, art, hiking, biking, cooking, playing computer games and spending time with my partner.

Sorry to hear you've had a bad week so far (from the message boards)... Glad to hear today is a "happy day" though! Hope things improve for you!!!! LOVE your animal pics etc. Life is SO much better with a dog by your side, isn't it??! emoticon

Thanks for your comment on my blog. Reading your intro...I can relate. I'm at goal maintenance range right now, but determined NOT to fall back into bad habits. And boy, do bad habits lurk around! Hopefully with a little awareness I can nip it in the bud.
