Balance is Key

Hello! I'm 30 and I live in Minneapolis. Over the last 2-3 years I have gained about 40 lbs. It has really affected my sleep quality and my level of physical confidence. My extra weight has also given me some foot and joint problems (I am very small-boned) which have been very challenging for me. I want to be strong and healthy! I'm not that interested in being super thin. I like my boobs too much. My body idol is Christina Hendricks from Mad Men. I actually really love being curvy!!!

My Goals:
I would like to leave the land of 170 or so lbs. and return to 120-125 utopia.

I have a goal that I've had since my early twenties, which is to get my lifeguard certification.

I also want to improve my balance and my core strength by getting back into yoga, and doing pilates again.

My Program:
My plan is to go to the Essential Pilates class at the Y in my 'hood at least once a week (either Monday or Thursday or both) and also to take the Barre class on Monday with my roommate. I want to swim a MINIMUM of once a week at the pool (to start), and do the rowing machine and/or elliptical at least twice a week as well. This means I will be going to the Y a minimum of twice a week, which will ensure I get my discount from my insurance.

Also: STRENGTH TRAINING!

I also want to do yoga at least twice a week at home or at the center. I'm also going to track my food HONESTLY, and weigh myself at the gym.

hmmm... anything in the way of the 8 am weekend class...?

how was the barre class...? i still haven't gone.

i think part of me is motivated for 2 different reasons: gotta get trim while my skin still can spring back--i'm not getting any younger. and, i guess my biological clock is starting to tick. i want to be fit before having a munchkin...and i'm running out of time for that whole childbearing thing. so...gotta make a difference, now, now, now!!!! also, healthy people such as dancers and circus people move so cool. i wanna move cool, too. i wanna finally be able to do a cartwheel for the first time in my life. woo!
