Nutritionally Fit 50's

I have been overweight most of my married life. 33 yrs of putting on a few pounds here and a few pounds there added up to 75 extra pounds that I was carrying around. I like everyone else tried most of the "diets" out there. None of them worked because the weight always came back. I am smart enough to know what I had to do but because of "excuses" did not put the plan in place.

The last 4 years I ballooned...part from stress of daily stuff and taking care of my mother with Alzheimers. She passed away peacefully in August of 2010. I went through a period of not knowing what to do with myself.

In September of 2010 my son moved back to Minneapolis and made an offer to my husband and I (and our daughter who was off to college):

He offered to help us modify our food intake and work with us on a cardio plan that he guaranteed us would "change our life".

Oct 1st, 2010 I started my journey! I joined my son for an earlier morning walk. This particular walk lasted for an hour and I came home exhausted and exhilerated at the same time. From that point on we walked everyday for the entire month of October. Our walks averaged 3-4.5 miles and took 1-2 hours.
It was a gift....and as each day came and passed the walking got a little easier and the weight started coming off.

We continued the walking outside as long as the weather permitted but being in MN it wasn't long before I started walking at the local community center. Its become my new best friend...exercising daily and cutting the sugar out of my diet. My husband and daughter have jumped on the journey and the weight is coming off and the energy is coming on!

"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living.
We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon - instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.”
-Dale Carnegie
