BL Winter Freeze Off Challenge! ---- ---- ---- --- Go, Panthers, Go!

I find myself this year at age 55. I am in the middle of Iowa, in the country. I do not drive. Countryside is pretty, but I was city raised and feel totally out of my element after living in a small town with sidewalks from age 18 until 50. I am adapting & enjoying all the new outdoor space.

Many nights I hear coyotes very close to the house, such a lonesome sound. Sometimes I startle a very large possum in the old barn or garage lean-to. Lots of wildlife for this quiet country ...

I am pleased that finally this year my yard has bird's foot trefoil growing in it! The bright yellow flowers bloom all summer & it has became my favorite volunteer plant in my yard next to purple sweet clover.

I realize it is high time to focus on my health, that it is never too late. I mostly use wii fit and exercise videos & a challenge here on Spark.

I 'just' have enough internet here for video streaming and for that I am grateful! Another half mile out, and I would have been internetless!

I enjoy the blogs of people with the same goal - getting healthier. I am inspired by so many!

I like all the resources on this site, but especially all the like minded people that really understand working toward fitness and health.

Living in a much smaller home has helped me pare down my possessions. I am debt free and plan on moving back into town when my old home is renovated.

I keep a smile on my face and a thankful heart.

Glad you enjoyed my flooring story...I may have added a few more pictures since you came by. Sure is hard on a ole gal who is sitting in the middle of a construction zone....but my motto has been "Get er done"!!! That is me...

I was in for the same issue already this month and they did an ultrasound. Everything's normal they say. He tried to explain it to me today that it could just be that I'm not dropping eggs right anymore due to my age (I'm 38) and the hormones are likely off.

After the holiday this week, no more candy! I have been eating chocolate like it's going out of style. Tine for a reset of all my habits.

The holidays can be a stressful time....so much to do...and so little time. De-stress at every opportunity. What does stress do to your health habits? It usually foils them. It takes over your good judgment leaving you at the mercy of comfort foods. Not this year!! Learn to recognize your stress level. Maybe it's your tone of voice. Maybe it's trying to read the same paragraph five times. Maybe it's hearing everyone speak at once but not really listening to anyone. That's when you need to relax. Take a five-minute time-out for yourself. Get away from the crowd. Breathe deeply and relax your muscles. Close your eyes and remember what you're thankful for: When you return to your family, they'll wonder why you look so refreshed!
