Hill House, Breezy Hill, Five Cats Farm, Four Winds Farm?

I find myself this year at age 53. I am in the middle of Iowa, in the country. I do not drive and our road turns to mud when it rains, so I stay put often. Countryside is pretty, but I was city raised and feel totally out of my element after living in a small town with sidewalks from age 18 until 50.
Many nights I hear coyotes very close to the house, such a lonesome sound. Sometimes I startle a very large possum in the old barn or garage lean-to. Lots of wildlife for this quiet country ...

I am pleased that finally this year my yard has bird's foot trefoil growing in it! The bright yellow flowers bloom all summer & it has became my favorite volunteer plant in my yard next to purple sweet clover.

I am doing my best to realize this is a good time to focus on my health and not circumstances. I mostly use wii fit and exercise videos since the road is not too safe for walking.

I 'just' have enough internet here for video streaming and for that I am grateful! Another half mile out, and I would have been internetless!

I enjoy the blogs and the other over 40's people with the same goal - getting healthier.

I like all the resources on this site, but especially all the like minded people that really understand working toward fitness and health.

I tend to fall off the course but then get back on, over and over. I really miss being in good shape.

Living in a much smaller home has helped me pare down my possessions, though I am still working on that as the barn has lots of goodies in it waiting for the right home. I am so out of my element here! But I keep a smile on my face and a thankful heart. Most days.

If I'm irritated with them enough, I'll pull out the sewing machine and tighten them up, but bras only really work well for about 6 months of use (so about a year for me because I wear them so seldom). They start to sag too, so I end up having to get new ones occasionally, I'd just like to find the right size next time I really need new ones.

Less weight does help make walking easier, but any walking at any weight is great for you! That's great that you can walk into town! Walking helps drop the weight.

Tell your husband he can go out and get his own cake. You won't be providing things for him that are detrimental to his health because you care for him. He's a grown man so he can go out and do those things himself. I know it's hard, but you don't need to provide the things for him that aren't good for either of you. Stick to your guns!

I hope I'll be jogging this summer, last year I tried interval training, but I think I ran too hard and my leg still hurts from it. I'm just glad I managed the almost 3 miles. I'm going to figure out the route so I can do a real 5k in my park.

Thanks for the comment on my blog "Stolen Sparkle" and you're right, it's tough when it's someone you thought was a friend. Still working through it, it's just going to take some time, but God is faithful and I trust in that. Hope you have a great rest of the week! Blessings!

Sadly, many people have spouses that are as accepting of the changes in food as yours. Keep on being selfish with your health.

Yep, a Snow Day! In April! It rained before it snowed, so I think that's why they called the day. We got at least 6 inches last night. I hope this is the last one until next fall, the weather has been teasing us, getting warm enough to melt, then a big snow again. We'll either get a really cool summer or skip over spring all together. emoticon emoticon
