I never really had much of a weight problem until I had my kids. But what I have realized is that in order to get results, you MUST put in the work. If I decide not to follow the plan and stay on track, I can't cry about it and feel sorry for myself, because 1+1=2.

I eat low carb, I started in March 2011, and have done very well so far. I am not on a DIET....diets are temporary fixes, and once you stop them, the weight comes back (of course). This is my way of life and I enjoy ...

In June of 2012, I started JUDDD (Johnson's Up Day Down Day Diet) while trying to still stick to keeping it low carb. I have lost an additional 20 lbs since that and found a nice balance for my body. This way of eating allows me to control my hunger better while letting additional "good" carbs back in.

I'm searching to find overall happiness in life and want to show my kids a good example to go by.

Hi Karen,

Happy Valentine Day to you and your Husband and beautiful girls! I have just come back to Spark after not being here since Sept. I need to start tracking again. I am only up 2 to 3 lbs but am eating junk. Not cooking fresh food much. The furnace went at my house and I am in the middle of repairs so mostly just using the microwave. Lots of snacking late at night under the pile of covers before I shut off the space heater for the night. I feel like a bear getting ready for hibernating. So I need to becareful of how much I'm eating. I would make a good JUDD candidate now vs LC. Maybe I'll give that a try. Hope all is well with you and your family and your husband is feeling better.

Hi Karn, I'm still tacking every day. But I did set my page to private . Maybe I hit that my mistake. I started strick lowcarb Monday (induction). Started at 163. I was 161.8 this am. I'm not doing JUDD per se but some days I don't have a big appetite so only eat 500 calories but I rarely go over 1600. I have been barely exercising other than walking. About 2 miles a day. My stomach has really slimmed down the past mouth but I have a small pouch that I would love to get rid of. An ab glass would be great but I have that kind of exercise plus don't have a gym membership but have tried Zumba on demand and some belly dancing. I really should take some measurements. This weekend I may try to make some oopsie rolls.

I think 2 months of not smoking and not gaining is a real accomplishment. Im sure that is a daily struggle. Think of all that money your saving. Not to mention your health in the long run. Kudoos to you!!!!

My girls are heading out to SanDiego in Jan to visit a friend. I myself will probably be visiting within the next few months for my first time ever to the San Jose/Bay area. More details to follow on that later on in a private email. :)

You have done so well Karen. You continue to inspire me.

Happy September Karen!!! Your tracker is looking fantastic! Hope all is going well. I'm assuming the kids have returned back to school. I'm sure thats a bit of a relief for you but then thinking back to my girls when they were younger then there is always the rush in the am to get out the door in time and the arguments to get the homework and projects done in time. Not to mention all the running around for sports and such.

Wow Karen , You are doing emoticon !!!! That is a wonderful low. I am trying a low today but heck only decided that a half hour ago as I have barely eaten and it's 5pm. But I could have eaten better. I had chips and dip. I haven't had that in years but I had a down fall last night. Went to the market to return DVD's at redbox and Lays chips were up front on sale. I had a really bad day at the Dr's with my Mom and she yelled at me the whole day afterwards so I bought the chips and dip. So I ate that and watched the Country Music Festival on TV last night and enjoyed them. I tracked them thou and the same for the chips today. The scale said 169 this am. So up a bit due to the salt so trying to push the fluids. Trying crystal light I got at the dollar store mixed with tap water. That's probably not good for me either but one packet I split for 32 oz's as I don't like it too sweet.

I hope to drop these 10 lbs I put on over the winter fast. I now have a muffin top again. AND I DON'T LIKE IT.

I just might be visiting CA this Fall after my Mom's surgery and things settle down. The San Jose area with some side trips! So 10lbs and then some would be wonderful! I will tell you more about it in a private email when I get a chance.

And tips on getting rid of belly bloat/FAT will be appreciated. I do alot of walking but really need to add in some strength training. Do you do anything inparticular?

Hi Karen,

Just checking in. I see you are still tracking and doing JUDD. Thats fantastic. I'm tracking. Staying within my calories and have been losing but need to switch it up a bit. I think I better go back to LC or try JUDD as it is slowing down or just plain stuck and I am bloated. Plus back to long Dr's appts and such as my Mom now has lung cancer and have been prepping for surgery for the 30th. She will be in the hospital for a week and then rehab or home with help at my home or hers. Not sure yet. So I need to come up with a plan. I can not regain what I have just begun to lose again.

So how is your family doing? Do the kids return back to school in August? Is your husbands recovery doing well? Do you get some time to yourself? I hope so.


I'm thinking with the crazy schedule ahead of me maybe judd might be best. What do you think? Do you ever do moderate days? Or switch the days due to what is coming up on your schedule?
