I CAN do this!!!!!!

Hi! Thanks for viewing my sparkpage! Here's my story..... I'm 45, with one terrific 11 year old son. I've been overweight practically all my life. When I was in elementary school, I was always the biggest in my class. I had ashthma when I was a kid, so I couldn't run like the other kids. We lived in Ohio, and I couldn't tolerate the cold because of my asthma. My parents didn't get along.. my *dad* was an alcoholic and a smoker "which aggrevated my asthma". He blamed everything on us ...
He blamed everything on us kids. I was also very tall. I always felt like a freak because of my height and weight. They divorced when I was 11. My mom remarried a great guy. I started losing weight, slowly.. We had a pool and I started swimming almost every day. When I hit my teens I started gaining weight again, it didn't matter what I did. My step sister would always make fun of me. Over the course of Middle School and high school I would lose some weight and then gain back even more. I met my first husband when I was in high school. He was very supportive at first about my weight. We were married two years before we divorced, because he was having kids with someone else. He said he couldn't even stand to look at me. When I was 23, I had hit 215 lbs. I was so embarrassed! But, I worked out faithfully, watched what I ate and dropped almost 60 lbs! Yeah me!! But about 2 years later I got poison Ivy and they had to put me on steriods. Ugh! I gained all the weight back. I struggled to get the weight off. I finally got almost all of it off again. Then 11 years later I met my second husband. He didn't care that I was overweight. We had a son. I started gaining weight again. I tried everything from weight watchers, slim fast, Weight loss clinics to lose the weight. It would help for a while, but then the weight would come back again. My husband started having an affair with my best friend because she was thin and I was not. So, I left him in 2008. It was a horrible seperation and an even worse divorce. We finally were divorced in 2010. He still reeks havoc on me, but not quite as much. But now I'm at my highest weight ever! At 288lbs it's time that I finally take control of my life and live for ME!!! I know I can do this. Not just for myself, but my son as well. He keeps telling me he's afraid I'm going to die! How can I do that to him?
I deserve to feel pretty
I deserve to feel energetic
I deserve not to feel embarrased
I derserve not be ashamed
I deserve to love myself
I deserve to be healthy
I deserve to LIVE

Today you have the choice to be amazing. Today you can do more than just try. You can succeed. You can be victorious. Today, you can rock your world. You can look yourself in the eye and smile... because you know that you are fighting for an amazing cause: YOU. And YOU are absolutely worth fighting for.

You can also do the same thing tomorrow.

"It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up." - Vince Lombardi

In honour of the upcoming Summer Olympic Games this Saturday in London, I give to you the Olympic Creed which is as true for the games as it is for achieving our own goals and dreams each and every day:

"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."

Today, you are a superhero, a survivor, a warrior, and a beacon to others for honouring yourself, your mind and your body; for making the choices that will make you an even better person tomorrow.

Today you are one step closer, because you decided to be. Fight strong, fight well, fight fair.

"Never, never, never, never give up." - Winston Churchill
