Like so many desk jockeys, I let weight creep on after finishing college and getting married, and finally realized that my lack of fitness was keeping me from living the life I've envisioned for myself. I've lost 55 pounds since joining SP in February of 2011, and along the way, I've discovered that I actually enjoy running (always hated it in high school PE!), and also discovered the magic of kettlebells. Lately I'm dabbling in Crossfit as well. Now I have a program that keeps me fit for anything and is still manageable within my busy schedule.
Healthy eating, and fitness. I'm just above my desired maintenance range right now, so focusing on getting stronger and faster, and letting the weight thing take care of itself at this point.
I mostly run outdoors in my neighborhood, and lift free weights 2x a week. Food-wise, I try to eat as little processed food as possible and tend towards Paleo and Perfect Health Diet, though I refuse to totally give up anything!
I live in beautiful Boise, Idaho with my husband, 2 dogs, chickens, and a horse.

The cherry pork chops were seasoned with rosemary salt and pepper, braised in butter, then simmered in red wine, chicken broth, and a splash of balsamic vinegar (and the Cherries) for 10-15 minutes. So good! The green things were leeks but I think you could leave them out

Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog - I agree with you on my calorie intake. Generally, 1400 calories per day is right on for me, but when training for the longer races (like Robie Creek) I have to up my calories a bit.
Thanks also for your friendship in SparkPeople - I wouldn't be anywhere near this healthy if it weren't for my Spark buddies :)

I've been trying to wean myself off those processed foods but it's a lot harder than I thought it'd be. You must have amazing willpower.

Glad to be your Spark Friend and thanks for reading and commenting on my blogs. Sounds like you're living an active and healthy lifestyle. I'll let you know as I decide on my races this year. Thus far I'm thinking of the Liberty Lake 8-mile run in May - east of Spokane, a beautiful run through woods, hills, waterfalls - and the Moscow Mountain Madness in Sept. outside of Moscow, Idaho. But I'm looking to try a new half marathon somewhere in the region that isn't too big and doesn't cost a ton. What runs do you like in your area?
