Like so many desk jockeys, I let weight creep on after finishing college and getting married, and finally realized that my lack of fitness was keeping me from living the life I've envisioned for myself. I've lost 55 pounds since joining SP in February of 2011, and along the way, I've discovered that I actually enjoy running (always hated it in high school PE!), and also discovered the magic of kettlebells. Lately I'm dabbling in Crossfit as well. Now I have a program that keeps me fit for anything and is still manageable within my busy schedule.
Healthy eating, and fitness. I'm just above my desired maintenance range right now, so focusing on getting stronger and faster, and letting the weight thing take care of itself at this point.
I mostly run outdoors in my neighborhood, and lift free weights 2x a week. Food-wise, I try to eat as little processed food as possible and tend towards Paleo and Perfect Health Diet, though I refuse to totally give up anything!
I live in beautiful Boise, Idaho with my husband, 2 dogs, chickens, and a horse.

It was good! You slit the checked breast to make a pocket, add a mixture of slivered almonds, dried apricots, and goat cheese. Then you coat with a mixture of slivered almonds and bread crumbs, sauté for 4 min per side, then bake for another 15 min. The recipe called for making a mint and almond pesto, but I couldn't get mint. I ended up adding a tbsp of regular basil pesto. (Enough to complement, not overwhelm, the flavor). Much better received than the last new recipe I tried!

Well.... Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be waiting until 2015 to run the Robie Creek HM. I was checking out my calendar and realized that Easter is the day after Robie Creek:( I checked on flights to see if I could still make it home late Saturday night, but no luck. Before I know it, my kiddos will be out of the "egg-hunting" excitement phase, but for now I'm soaking up all the kid-magic holidays that I can and don't want to miss any of it.
I did find a local HM that is on the same date. It's also a hilly trail run in Carson City called "Escape from Prison Hill". So, now my honest HM training begins.

Hello - thanks for your comment on my status regarding my new shoes:)
I've been running in the new balance minimus 10 for about a year now - and loved their feel. They will still be my primary road shoe, but the Altra zero drop Lone Peak 1.5 are now my "go-to" shoe anytime I plan to run trails. I tried out several shoes at our local running shoe store, and these felt the most similar to my NB. They are a little stiffer, but for the terrain I'm using them in - it's perfect. I couldn't believe that during my last rocky trail run, I did not feel any of the rocks. Did you see the picture I posted of the trail I ran? It's full of really sharp "shale". You should check out Altra's website and watch their video on the Lone Peak - it's pretty cool.
My main motivation for getting new shoes was to comfort the soles of my feet when running on rocky terrain. Last year's trail half-marathon that I did hurt my feet so badly that I could hardly walk for several weeks (and I believe Robie Creek will be just as rocky or more so:).
BTW - as far as sizing, I wear an 11 in my NB and the 11's in Altra are a perfect fit.
