Trying to find myself!

I'm 58 and overweight!! Need to find my motivation and try to get on with living my life instead of always hiding from it.

-------------FLASH FORWARD-----------------

Well it's almost been close to 2 years later and now I'm 60 yrs old...damn how the hell did that happen??? I've traveled down this road for quite awhile and yes I've lost weight but I've also learned a bit about myself. I still have more miles to go, but I think I have a map now and hopefully I won't get ...

My Goals:
Beside losing weight, I wish to be healthy. I want to reduce or eliminate my medications. I want to jog and take long walks on nature trails. I want to wear a bathing suit and run on the beach. I want to attend my husbands office functions with self-confidence.

My Program:
I have made one of the best choices in reaching my goals by joining this site. I am committing to eating healthy and exercising, and accepting and giving support and motivation from everyone here at SparksPeople.

Personal Information:
I live in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. I'm 58, married to a wonderful man. We've been married for 38 years. I have two sons, no grand kids. I don't work outside the home now, but I did own 2 restaurants. Food has always been a constant in my life. It represents the good times, the bad times, my successes and failures. Through it all, food was always there, sometimes as a friend, more often as a foe. I need to take away it's power over me and turn it back into what it truly is...just sustenance for my body. I'm learning that joy and happiness comes from my heart, my brain, and my soul...not my stomach!

Other Information:
As hard as it's been sometimes, my struggle with my weight has given me a wonderful gift. I have learned to never judge anyone. I know that other people look at me and form an opinion based only on appearance. I also know I will never place judgment on you because of body image.

Hi there,
How have you been? I had a gastric bypass on 3/28/12 and am finally having some success. It looks like you are doing really well. Good luck, keep up the momentum. emoticon Betty

Hey there,
How have you been doing? I couldn't stand that cold weather last week here in Florida. Thank the lord it is over and we are back to normal. I see you have been doing great. I have been exercising and tracking everything again for a few weeks.
Keep up the good work. emoticon

I'm looking for a buddy in the Lakeland area. You AMAZE me! I'm so proud of your weight loss. No minor thing! I started at 267 and weighed 251 three weeks ago. I will be weighing in again sometime this next week, after about a month. I'm vacationing in Missouri and have (so far) been away from home for three weeks and have stayed within my calorie range and walked three miles every day but one day. I am amazed. I agree that SP is the best thing I've done. (I hold the world record for joining Weight Watchers . . . I've been in and out since I was 19 and I'm 62!! YIKES!) Let me know if you have any interest in a local buddy for a low-cal lunch at Panera some time. Best wishes on your journey! Jane
