Time to count those cals, and shake those jowls!
I'm back! Gonna TRACK!

Back again, 4 lbs more than before, 210 total; an insane semester with two teaching jobs and two Grad classes, is finally OVER, time for ME now!

January 19th.

I'm going to try the diet again, as just getting fatter isn't helping anything. I'm scared as I'm very emotionally dependent on food!
I weigh 206 lbs now, 2 more lbs than I did March 2008, 10 months ago. I've even got up to 208 lbs a few times! Not much of a weight loss success!
Doing my MA now, and have almost completed a week of being a long-term substitute for 2 intensive High School French classes, an emotionally and physically harrowing job. I've been eating for fuel, as rarely had enough sleep, and for emotional support. My situation is changing in the next two weeks to teaching an easier college class, 4 hours a week. Also must find other employment.

March-ish 2008: (204 lbs) I like to eat and I don't like dieting, but as I don't like the way I look and feel being overweight, it is time to make changes. :)

I've gained about 22 pounds in the last year, partly due to stopping smoking, and I've only fallen off that wagon a few times since.

I'm going to SJSU getting my BA in May in French, already starting my MA, it's been a long haul. I'm eating at school, usually in the food court 4 days a week this semester, which is challenging and full of traps!

(Now (Fall 2008) working almost full time teaching French in a High School, and taking two MA evening classes a week.)

I'm trying to eat gluten-free, (no wheat-flour) and I don't use artificial sweeteners, as I believe them to be unhealthy. So I'll have to be customizing my meal plans a lot. :)

I started this SparkPeople diet March 16th, 2008. (And then fell off it, starting again Sept. 1st, 2008!)

That 1st month lost 6.5 lbs, 1.5" from waist, 1" from hips.
My BMI April 16th was 1575.995.

My Goals:
Continue with my MA so I can teach French in college/be a translator, and/or teach ART in an Elementary, Middle or High School. Start my own school for motivated Foreign Language and Art students. Write and illustrate books. Travel again.

At this point, (Spring 2008) survive this semester and get my BA, get a teaching or other job, and start getting out of debt.

Count calories, and do aerobic exercise (treadmill, bike, etc.) Maybe ease into the 6-mini meals/day diet.

I've been on five continents, and lived on four: California, (America) France & Ireland, (Europe) Algeria (Africa) and China (Asia) ! Was abroad 23 years. Hence finishing school here so late. I love travelling, although I don't have the money to do it these days. I love languages and meeting people from different countries, as well as locals interested in the world. :)

    Kalisa, Thank u so much for your encouragement and advice. I am proud to say that I did work out for almost 2 hours today and it felt great! Don't worry about the weight gain from eating. It happens when college course loads get way too out of control. I do wish you the best of luck on all your finals and projects! I guess what I would do is whenever you feel overwhelmed, instead of snacking, go take a brisk walk or run or do some crunches, sit ups, or dance around the house and who cares who's watching! Whatever gets you moving and burning some calories help. Here's to us striving to lose the weight by taking baby steps. Good luck to you!

    Hi Kalisa! Welcome to the SP Class of March 9-15! The great thing about SP is you don't have to stop eating and diet! It's all about controlling the type of foods you eat and exercise. You can start at low impact like short walks and work your way up. Let us know if you need help or support, come visit your team! Have a great weekend! Angela
