May 2011 I joined SparkPeople & lost 30lbs by July 2011. It was the most miraculous thing, I actually did it & I never knew I could. My work had a Biggest Loser competition & I signed up paying an entry fee and knew that if I gained weight, there was penalty money to pay. My work had a Biggest Loser competition & I signed up paying an entry fee and knew that if I gained weight, there was penalty money to pay. I thought, "Maybe I'll at least stay the same weight, maybe lose a little..." Little did I know that I went on to surprise myself and everyone else week after week. Out of approx 50 contestants in all of our branches, I took 3rd place. But in my heart, I definitely won the Gold. The things I learned about myself, on top of how amazing I felt, is something that no one could compare to in a competition. I managed to maintain my weight loss from July to December & truly proved to myself of the lifestyle changes that I had committed to. January 2012 our office decided to hold another competition. This time there are only 10 of us, so my chances of winning are higher, I believe. I have learned that although relaxation & resting are important, being physically active has truly brought a greater happiness to how I feel. I am so thankful to know that I truly can do whatever I set my heart to, sometimes it just comes down to the commitment where I seem to struggle & find myself in denial on whether I am giving it my all or not. I now know, and thanks to SparkPeople, have the tools to reach and SURPASS any goal I set for myself. To all of you reading this, one of the most important things to remember is to congratulate yourself along the way. The more you beat yourself up, the harder you are making things on yourself. I recently told my husband how much I love SparkPeople because it's "My Positive World" in which I can read, be inspired and see POSITIVE things going on every where I turn. The world is so full of the negative, remember to only spread the POSITIVE! Keep up the good work everyone! You CAN do it!

My Goals:
I want to live a lifestyle where I feel as light as a butterfly! I say that in all seriousness as me having lost 10lbs I can literally feel how much lighter I am and can't wait to feel 20lbs lighter, 30lbs lighter, etc. I've already noticed a number of differences it has made on me mentally and physically and my body deserves to carry less weight.
I also have great desires to be a mother someday and I would love to be in great health when that day comes so I can be strong for myself and my family.

My Program:
I am no longer saying, "I think I can I think I can, I THINK I CAN!" I know that little engine did, and was successful, but all that talk got me into was thinking I could clack my sparkly red heels and be back in Kansas (AKA Skinny-land) again. I now admit knowing that being educated is completely separate from acting upon the knowledge. I have now been on a limited calorie diet and been exercising for a minimum of 90min/per week. (I have been doing twice that at times, but my goal was set lower so I don't overwhelm myself.)

Other Information:
I hope if nothing else that I can inspire others to know that they too can accomplish the goals they seek, IF they are willing to put forth the effort.

You are so right about just eating less! In the last week and half I have cut out ALL of my mindless snacking and I know that has had a big influence on the 3.2 lbs I've lost not to mention the difference I see in my shape already. Now I find it hard to reach my 1200 calories a day mark!

Thanks for adding me as a friend! I'm glad you found sparkpeople. It had to be a shock to hear that at the doctor's office. But you have found a website with all the tools you'll need on this journey!!
