Hello all.... This is going to be a rant so if you don't know me yet, please forgive me. I am a mom of two beautiful boys, ages 2 and 4. I have been married 5 years to a thin, active man. I am one of four women in my family with a weight problem. This morning, when I signed up for spark people, it told me I was obese. Till now, I had only been overweight, a fact that seemed to earn me ire and resentment from my mother and sisters who weigh more than I do. I am tired of looking in the mirror and cringing. I am tired of old hat excuses that people try to hand me like "Well, hon, you have had two kids..." I am tired of the indifference and occasional distaste of my husband at my apperance. I am tired of finding more and more things that are difficult or uncomfortable to do because of my weight. At one time in my life, I was a competetive athlete. I am tired of my smiling, thin face in photographs that I don't like to look at anymore. I want more to life than the constant worry that I will fall victim to diabetes like my father and die overweight and too young. I have so many reasons to do this and no reasons not to. I feel confident that I can do this and I am greatful for a free site that offers so many tools to help me.
