Being Healthy!

Well, I'm back on SparkPeople after a LONG hiatus. I gained back half of what I had lost (went from 152 to 169) and hovered around there. Lost my third Fitbit and couldn't afford another one. :( Just ended a 6-month relationship where I count my time as successful because I *didn't* gain weight, because although he supposedly encouraged me to work out, he took all my free time and always wanted to get pizza :P. So now I am losing again, started with a couple of pounds right before the breakup ...

So now I am losing again, started with a couple of pounds right before the breakup and down 10 from my plateau at the moment.

I have a whole pile of great clothes I've gotten from clothing swaps, plus some of my old clothes, that are just *barely* too small. So I figure my reward for losing additional weight will be those "new" clothes.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment on my blog. I chose “normal” BMI instead of “healthy” BMI because as others have maintained, you can be healthy even if above what is defined as the “healthy weight” range and I agree. A little above shouldn’t be a problem, but the article a few weeks ago that insisted you can be healthy at 5’4” and 225 lbs sends the wrong message. Is there no upper limit?

Like you I’m not aiming for the bottom of my range (117-154) defined as “healthy weight.” I must have been there once, like in high school on my way up to overweight. However, there are always outliers in statistics, the professional football players who are above the range, and the world class gymnasts below it. I agree that both are healthy, but not many of us fall into either category. Most people fit somewhere in the middle.
