Help!

Hi! I'm Joan and have had a weight problem all my life. After my divorce in 1985 I lost alot of weight and thought I would never have a weight problem again. Well I remarried and slowly the weight returned and now I find myself 50 pounds heavier with no discipline about the food I eat. I want to lose weight but I just can't keep myself from eating bad food and I want to exercise but I am always so tired because I am so fat! I want help but I just don't want to do the work.

My Goals:
My goal is to lose 50 pounds. I'm 190 lbs. right now and would like to get into the 170's.

My Program:
Eat more low-fat, healthier foods and use the treadmill 20 minutes per day for 5 days per week.

I'm 61 and after years of yoyo dieting, I think I've finally got it.

The key for me was accepting that I am not perfect. That every day and every bite and every movement count, not just when I say they do. If I focus on all the good things I'm doing and trying to be my best I do much better than if I "yell" at myself for everything I'm not doing.

Start now. You don't have to wait for Monday. If you misstep on Tuesday or an hour after you start, it does not matter. Just keep going. You DO NOT have to be perfect to succeed. I'm far from perfect in eating and in every way, but if I just do the best I can each day, I can weigh just what I want. Never, never give up.

Walk 10 more minutes today than yesterday -- then reward yourself! Drink one more glass of water and eat one more veggie. Go to bed on time one more night a week. You can do this!! It is possible, and you can do it!!

If you find 1200 calories is just too hard, try 1500 or 1600. Slowly losing weight counts, too. You don't have to lose fast for it to be a big help to you.

THERE IS REALLY ONE THING YOU CAN DO, MODIVATION AND ETERMINATION. NO ONE CAN FORCE YOU TO CHANGE YOU HABITS ONLY YOU CAN. ALTHOUGH YOU CAN FIND FREINDS (LIKE ME :D) WHO CAN HELP MODIVATE YOU TO A GOOD PATH. I WENT THROUGH THE SAME THING, I WAS 20 WITH 200 POUNDS ON ME AND I COULD NOT STAY AWAY FROM MCDONALDS FOR THE LIFE ME. THE NUTRITION TRACKER AND PEOPLE ON SP IS WHAT CHANGED MY LIFE AROUND. THE MORE YOUR ON HERE THE MORE MODIVATED YOU GET, GUARENTEED. WHAT I DID WAS LOOKED IN THE MIRROR EVERYDAY DISQUSTED AND THAT HELPED. I THREW AWAY EVERY BAD FOOD IN MY HOUSE INCLUIDING MY OFFICE, REPLACE YOUR HUNGER WITH VEGIS TO SNACK ON OR FRUITS AND GRAINS, YOUR BODY WILL LEARN TO LOVE IT THEN YOU CANT STOP JUST LIKE WITH BAD FOODS. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LOOSE THAT WEIGHT YOU WILL PUT YOUR SELF IN A MORE MODIVATIONAL MOOD. I don't mean to sound ugly - but stop waiting for Monday and start now.

There is nothing wrong with you - our society celebrates everything with food. You can change this cycle but only you can do it. One day at a time.

I was 54 when I joined SparkPeople and 56 when I came back and started my Spark Program, starting with Stage One. This is a one day at a time program, but if you do the SparkPeople Program Steps, it really does work. I am terribly average, it's the SP program that is extraordinary.

I found logging my foods in the Nutrition Tracker helped me to lose 90 lbs in 16 months! I started at 210 and went to 120.

I hung clothing that was too small on my closet door and every time I would get discouraged I would try them on. Week by week they started fitting! That kept me motivated.

Welcome aboard, we really are all in the same boat! Sometimes we can sail right along but sometimes we have to be rowing like crazy!

You can make it happen! SparkPeople really does work!
