it's an experiential thing

So, while meditating I've had a deep experiential moment of clarity and awakening. It's an experiential thing that I can't explain any more than can explain to a blind man the color blue. But I get it. I get my eating issues - my struggle with my weight and with food. The issues have presented to me. I finally get the emotional attachments, and really feel that I've let it go. It was the purist state of awareness that I've ever encountered and I'm truly at peace.

Definitely there was a lot of baggage that needed to be sorted, examined, watched, and then, putting away judgment, accepting it. The beauty is I really know that those things can't hurt me, without my permission.

It occured to me then that I should follow a version of the soft man style of buddhist eating for a while. ~ That is eating for the sake of nutrition, not for pleasure.~ It's one of those things that I knew without "knowing". I've had my "ah-ha!" moment with food, and "getting" what food is and what it isn't. I (at this point) have had the "click" and understand what I've been doing with food and why I eat. Maybe now(?) I'm on the right path to living with food in a healthy way? Maybe now I can have a controlled relationship with it and use it what it's meant for: Energy. Not for pleasure, or comfort. Who knows?

So - no food after noon. Doing light calistentics, and meditating. We'll see where this path leads, I'm going to take it day to day - but even if the soft man style isn't permanent, (and ta-dah!, nothing is permanent!) I do know that I need to be mindful to stick to the middle way when it comes to eating/not eating... Metta

Love your page! I've had that "awakening" moment, too. 3 years ago at a meditation retreat when I'd been meditating from 6am to 11pm for a week. On the sixth day, everything became absolutely clear. No need to explain. I understand it's wonder and power. :).

I won't be back for a couple of weeks...going on vacation! I'll look in when I get back. :)....tish

P.S.

Metta, I belong to another team you might want to check out--ThanksGiving Community, where we post--many of us each day, but that's not a requirement--things we are grateful for. Posting mine and reading others really helps me keep things in perspective and helps me realize how fortunate I am. I'm not good at links; so if you would like take a look, just go to my page and click on the team icon. Cheers, Michelle
