I am 26-years-old and my life has been a whirlwind of change in the past year. I have lost over 141 lbs in about a year. I have divorced my husband of just under 4 years in a marriage that never should have happened, but I felt obligated to stick it out. I have come to terms with a mood disorder that I will have forever, but I refuse to let define me.. Just like I refuse to let being 150 lbs overweight define me ever again. That is old Heather. New Heather is the same as old Heather.. She's just learned that while she loves her children and her wonderful family, in order to love them and be there for them 100%, she has to love herself first. You can't love yourself when you are treating yourself in a way that puts you in a position where you have 150 lbs to lose.

I haven't updated this "introduction" in a bit over 3 years. Crazy to think that I am going on 6 years in this wonderful community. I started here as "ForMyBaby86", then "ForMyBabies86", and finally, this year I realized that to get this done it had to be for me. During this process my life has changed in 100 terrifying and amazing ways.. but I am grateful for them all because I've learned from them all.

Soon I will be entering maintenance mode for the first time in my life, for the rest of my life. Obesity is a lifelong mental battle. I will always love food, but now I am beyond committed to loving myself more.

So this is where you find me now. A "GemInTheRough" that soon enough will be "JustAGem"...

Fitness Minutes: 17,269

My Goals:
I would like to get to around 155 lbs. I have a lot to lose and a lot to gain.. This comes out to losing 51.3% of my starting weight. Right now I have lost 46.3% so only 5% to go!!

I ran the EP5k in 2010 and the Aramco Houston Half Marathon in 2011. I eventually want to tackle a marathon, after a few more halfs. And maybe the MS150? Who knows? I have the 2013 Aramco Houston Half Marathon coming up in January. ;)

These are some hefty goals, but they are things that inspire me.

My Program:
Portion control, no fried food, fast food, or oreo cookies (my vice). Vitamins. No soda, but I don't really drink soda as it is. My exercise program at the moment consists of 45 minutes of cardio 6 days a week. I would like to eventually start running, and build up some endurance. Beyond lifting a 40 lb pre-schooler a hundred time a week, I do 30 minutes of strength training twice a week.

I live in Dickinson, TX, work in the engineering field as an as-built design engineer and absolutely love my life.
