At my wedding, June 2004
Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
My name is Rae, and I'm 26 years old. I work overnight in an academic library. My husband and I just celebrated our third wedding anniversary on June 12, 2007.
Writing and reading are two of my favorite hobbies. I enjoy science fiction, romance, and children's literature, as well as classic British Literature. Some of my favorite authors include Jane Austen, JK Rowling, Terry Pratchett, Anne McCaffrey, and Nora Roberts.
My other hobby is to travel! I have lived on three continents & have visited six countries and 41 of the 50 United States. My dream is to take an Atlantic cruise to Europe and spend a month traveling through different countries, but I'll settle for going to Ireland first. ;)
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on my life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.
It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.
We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude.
I am convinced that life is ten percent what happens to me and ninety percent how I react to it. And so it is with you: we are all in charge of our attitudes."
I have short-term goals of 30lb increments, and mini-goals of 5lb increments to keep me going. Every 15lbs I give myself a reward!
I want to start a family with my husband, but before that I need to be healthy & able to carry a baby.
I am going to use Spark to track my nutrition information, but also WW points to help keep me on track for portion size & planning my meals.
I am a member of a gym, and my husband and I are going to start a walking program.
I have been overweight since the age of seven. I weighed over 200lbs in eighth grade, but managed to lose about 30lbs before going back up over 200. I reached my highest weight of 274lbs in 2002.
In 2003 I made the decision to lose weight. I joined a women's gym with my mother, and we both began a regular workout schedule. I have always been a healthy eater, but I used to eat very large portions. With portion control and regular exercise, I lost 50lbs. Then I met my husband, moved away from homes, stopped going to the gym...
Three years later, I'm now at 267 lbs and ready to start losing weight again. I have been consistently maintaining my weight, but I want to lose it! I'm looking forward to seeing the numbers on the scale start to drop again. :)
