Everything happens for a reason right? My ex-boyfriend's new girl-friend (who is now his wife) told me about this site a few years ago (weird, I know.) & I can't imagine my life with out it.

Up until now none of you knew that my maiden name is Sparks & to be honest I was a little sad to see it go back in 2010. It's always been the perfect name for me. Julie Sparks, full of life & love. I am and always have been a firework, I was born on the 5th of July. My mom went into labor ...

Up until now none of you knew that my maiden name is Sparks & to be honest I was a little sad to see it go back in 2010. It's always been the perfect name for me. Julie Sparks, full of life & love. I am and always have been a firework, I was born on the 5th of July. My mom went into labor watching the fireworks off the coast of the Pacific in San Diego 29 years ago. I was born to sparkle.

After becoming a wife and mom and before finding sparkpeople I lost my spark.. my mom died a slow, heart wrenching death and I got really fat.. I hit a real rough patch. I always was big, but 2011 brought me into the 300s. All that really matters now is that I'm here and I'm back. I sparkle again. I wish she could see me, how beautiful I feel.

Even though I chose to change my last name, my legacy will always live on as Julie Sparks thanks to SP. Although now I live it as a verb instead of a noun. The support I have found through this site has forever changed me and has brought me back to life. There are so many of you who have brought me back to what I used to be. Words can't express how much your support means to me.

Thanks to you I will always be Julie Sparks.
I spread the spark everyday.
I live it and love it.
I spark, therefore I am.

Original: My son was born Feb. 10th, 2011 and I never thought my weight would get as high as it did. My body looks a way that I never would have imagined.. I've been avoiding having my picture taken with him because I don't want to see myself look so big, so different from what I think I look like.

I've been over 200lbs for most of my 20's, but it doesn't have to stay this way. My 27th birthday is about 2 months away and I set a pretty hefty goal for myself to reach by my 28th birthday, it's a big one, but its obtainable.. Others have accomplished it, so why not me?

Update: Since joining SP and writing this intro I GAINED about 40lbs taking my weight higher than it was the day I delivered my son. Nothing like surpassing your full-term prego weight 6 months later.. By my 27th birthday my weight was the highest ever-314! Then I got serious! I have been a member of SP since April of 2011, but didn't really stick to it until after the summer of 2011. Seeing pictures of myself that big blew me away.. In about a month I will be celebrating my 2 year anniversary with SP and I am proud to report that I lost all the baby weight, wearing pre-baby jeans and almost at the same weight I was on my wedding day!!

Why can't I get the results I am looking for by just paying for a gym membership?? Guess I gotta actually use it and not just pay for it.

Hey Julie, thanks for the blog comment! Good for you training for the Shamrock Shuffle! I am planning to do that one as well for my March 5k. Maybe we'll have to get a celebratory beer or something after we're finished. :)

So just a thought, but would you be interested in doing a glow run in Madison in May? I really want to do it, but I think it might be weird doing it on my own. No worries if you're not interested but thought I'd offer. :) Keep going girl! You're doing great!

You were in my neck of the woods on Sunday! I just moved back to FDL from Oshkosh. I'm really missing my apartment and the fact that Oshkosh is a bit more youth oriented (since I'm still single & childless, I consider myself "young"! LOL) and artsy. But, Fond du Lac is home, and after working in Oshkosh for 6 years, I got a job back here so I moved home with my parents to save some money.

Hi Julie,
Thank you for being a supportive friend. Think I just have the winter blahs but and I am so glad to see the sunshine and feel a bit more warmth today. Oh and guess what? I cut off my hair and had it colored a light brunette with blonde highlights last Sunday. Hubby took some pics but they look awful so I'll try to take something that I don't cringe to share soon. You inspired me to go for it! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yo Julie!! Sorry I was MIA to talk about races, im here now! Hows the new look going, getting used to your hair?

Okay- so I will let you think about what race you want to do. But here's one that I did once a few years ago and LOVED it. I think it would be a fun one for us to do together and its March 15th. Have you heard of the UW Oshkosh Shamrock Shuffle??

I would really like to do this one- It's a month and a half away if you want to really prepare for it! 2 years ago I did it in 33 minutes! I still can't believe that! I would like to try for a sub 30-minute 5k.

Ive been slacking on running lately because my hip has been giving me major grief after running. Like a sharp pain the next day and I walk like I'm 96. So I'm going to try again tonight and make sure that I really stretch my hips out before running.

Let em know your thoughts! Also- im going to send you a message with my personal info. Wanna be facebook buddies??!

Hope you're having a nice weekend! I'm starting to get sick of this cold, windy Wisconsin weather... I decided I'm "hibernating" this weekend and taking it easy at home (but I'll still sneak in a couple workouts).

Take some time to relax this weekend and dream of someplace warm & sunny. I'd love to be on a tropical beach somewhere right now!
