Gettin' Down with SP!!

I'm a 54 year old diabetic, married, with a terrible case of "empty nest syndrome", who needs to get healthy. I have 140 pounds to lose and I need your support. This is such a great community and I am looking forward to "taking it off" with you!!

My Goals:
My goals are to get to a point in life where I feel healthy and can be as active as I want to be. I would like to lose about 140 lbs, but I will be extremely happy if I can lose 100!! And I want to be free of back pain and every pain that goes along with being morbidly obese.

My Program:
I am a diabetic, so I am trying to follow the guidelines of a diabetic diet. I am eating a low-fat, reduced-carb diet with lots of fiber. I am trying to get cardio exercise at least 3 times a week to start. I also need to start some resistance exercise at least twice a week.

Personal Information:
I am married to Duane and have three daughters and one stepson. I live in Port Angeles, WA which is about 2.5 hrs. west of Seattle on the Olympic Peninsula. I have my own bookkeeping and tax firm, and my husband has his own CPA firm. I have been overweight most of my life, having yo-yo dieted several times. I like to do beading, read, play games, spend time with family and friends. I am in the process of finding new things that I like to do.


Other Information:
I have degenerative disc disease, and have had two disc removal surgeries. I have to be very careful with what I do for exercise to start with. I am walking three times a week to start, working up to five times a week. But it is slow going.

Your going to do GREAT! The best advice that I can tell you is take advantage of all that SPARKS PEOPLE have to offer..
READ as much as you can.. and DRINK YOUR WATER!!
