I grew up always thinking I was an “ok” size. I knew I wasn’t one of the thin girls but I wasn’t one of the heavy girls either. So even though deep down I’ve never really loved my body, I wasn’t doing much to change that. I’ve always been active but never realized how much of a difference it makes when you make it part of your everyday life. After my cousin told me about SparkPeople in December 2011 and the changes that she was making, I slowly started taking action steps. I saw her go through an amazing transformation and I finally realized that I was in a similar situation and that it was time for change. I’m not one for quick changes so the beginning of my journey to a healthier life has been on the slower side. Eating healthier and trying to get some kind of regular activity into my weekly routine were my starting goals. The pace picked up in August 2012. I went through a break up and within a month was down several pounds. Once I started seeing the numbers on the scale go down it motivated me to make a few more changes. It was almost as if I hit the ‘reset’ button. All the while I kept reminding myself, if my cousin and so many others can do it, then so can I! While seeing a couple of very close family members go through some serious health struggles this past year it opened my eyes that NOW is the time to get the best and healthiest version of ME.
Spark has been a great motivator. When you see others succeed, some doing it in small steps and others in huge leaps, it reminds you that you can succeed as well but it is totally up to you to be accountable to yourself.

*Eat healthier (more fruits & veggies)

*Get at least 10-30 minutes of exercise in each day

*Lose 10 lbs to start. Once accomplished, another 10!

*Be more active outside
