I'm trying to keep from becoming a full blown diabetic. I live in California, central valley. I'm retired, and I spend my time golfing and writing. I have published novel from 2001 and quit for five years as I tired of the process. I'm now back at it and enjoying it once again. Several weeks ago I broke my right heel and it's taking its time healing. I love to walk the golf course, but that's been impossible3 and probagly will be for another month. I ride. So at least I'm getting out ...

Several weeks ago I broke my right heel and it's taking its time healing. I love to walk the golf course, but that's been impossible3 and probagly will be for another month. I ride. So at least I'm getting out there and seeing friends and having a great time in all the sunshine. I'm struggling with how to eat a diabetic diet. I went to a class at Kaiser and found it helpful. It's just not very much fun. :-)))

My Goals:
I must lose 13 pounds.

My Program:
I've been searching the internet for menu plans for diabetics. I think I'll just use the point system fro Weight Watchers. I was successful on that diet back some time ago. I have all the tools. I think losing the weight will be enough to put my glucose back in the right place. I was laid up for seven weeks with my broken heel. Any suggestions would be welcome.

First off I wanna say hello, I'm Kristina aka Kris from Fresno, CA. I see you are a member on the SP Fresno - Official Team. I know it's been quite slow and VERY quiet for quite some time which had probably not helped a lot of people, but me and 1 of the co-leaders are trying to get more action on the team! There are a few challenges going on, feel free to come and jump in on them!

"There's a difference between interest & commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
- Kenneth Blanchard

SparkPeople Translation
Are you interested in your goals, or are you fully committed? One of the most common complaints among goal setters nowadays is that there’s just not enough time to get to the ones that “really matter.” The real culprit is that most people don’t raise their goals beyond the level of general interest. They’re waiting for a vague time in the future when other things won’t get in the way or when they wrap things up. In other words, when it’s more convenient. And of course, that time never comes, does it? If your goals are truly that important to you, don’t let anything stand in your way. You have the power to say ‘no’ and to set your priorities. Make that commitment and you automatically create an obligation that you’re bound to fulfill.

I saw one of your post. I see you like PB and bananas. I have been coming home every morning from work and having a PB/bananna sandwich on whole wheat bread. At times I will put a squirt of honey on the sandwich or some pineapple or strawberry perserves in addition to the bananna. It is quick, easy and delicious. So, is this a rather fattening morning meal or am I safe to continue my routine?
