"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain." ~~Maya Angelou
2009 is going to be drastically different and wonderful for me!!!
I am ready to make permanent, good changes in my life!
I will make the committment to myself to be healthy, fit and happy!
Am I willing to commit to making myself strong, fit and healthy?
Reprinted from DC Women Getting Fit:
“There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstance permit. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results."
"As you prepare for a new year, are you thinking about setting resolutions or will you accept the challenge to make commitments? There's a big difference! Here is how Webster's dictionary defines the words "resolve" and "commit":
Resolve- to reach a firm decision about, to declare or decide.
Commit- to carry into action deliberately, to obligate or pledge oneself.
Resolutions sound impressive, but they fall short in defining what we are truly committed to.
Along with making a declaration to change, we must act intentionally. Real change involves real commitments, not just resolutions.
Let's separate ourselves from the resolution makers, the list keepers and the wishful thinkers and make an unwavering commitment to improve our health this year!"
~To be fit and healthy and look good in my clothes!
~To have more energy to really enjoy life.
~To be able to go places WITHOUT worrying if I'll be physically comfortable!!!
~30 minutes of cardio (at least) 5-6 days a week.
~Strength/weight training Mon, Wed. & Fri.
I've been doing 30 minutes in the morning on my treadclimber, but also, I try to hit the gym at least 3 evenings a week. Now's the time for me to really STEP IT UP! I'm working my way up to 1 hour of cardio/6 days a week.
I was born and raised in Washington DC, and I currently live and work there. I'm also attending school in my spare time in order to obtain my first Bachelor''s degree in Marketing. I love to plan and organize events, so I hope to turn my degree into a profitable career in the event marketing world.
I love to read and watch movies, and I have become a football nut! GO 49ers (and Patriots)!!! Also, when I have real spare time (whatever the heck that is!), I love to write. I haven't become a published author yet, but someday soon....
I also enjoy all kinds of music and I think the iPod is the greatest invention since the wheel!

I had a chance to go to work for the FBI in Washington, D.C. when I graduated from high school back in 1967, but my father talked me out of going, and I've always wondered how much fun it would have been. The parties there are wonderful from what I see on the news, so you could really plan events! Lucky you.
Keep working on your Sparkpeople goal. You can do this!

If you'd like to "play along" you can - there are daily and weekly threads for the teams with different ideas and inspirations - your loss just wouldn't count to the team total. We're only in week one - so you havne't missed much! Have fun!
