New Attitude!

I was just diagnosed with full-blown diabetes. Didn't pay attention to the pre-diabetes warnings, but it is now time to step up to the plate. I'm trying to avoid becoming insulin dependent. I've had an unhealthy lifestyle for so long, this is really going to require a lot of really bad habit changes!!

My Goals:
I am tired of being overweight and all that entails, and I really want to feel better about myself. My goal is to lose weight, exercise, and start making time for myself (I tend to be a bit of a workaholic!). I want to learn to live a healthy lifestyle and make some new friends while I'm at it!

My Program:
I'm using the meal plans and nutrition tracker, I've joined the diabetes 8-week challenge, and I am joining Curves later this week!

Personal Information:
I am a 4th grade teacher in Northern Virginia! I LOVE my job but am looking to build more of a personal life for myself at long last!! I am active in my church, and I tutor adults in my community who are trying to earn their high school diplomas. I love to read, go to movies, I love the beach and the mountains. And I LOVE animals!

Other Information:
"A ship in harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are for." -George Bernard Shaw

Oh, the Bodybugg is AMAZING. It's a sensor you wear on your arm that tracks how many calories you burn, how many steps you take, and how much moderate activity (when you're burning above a certain number of cals/min) you do. It has a digital display that you can buy separately to see some of your data in real time, but you do need to upload your data to their website (similar to SP's tracking system) and they make you pay for the site, which kind of stinks. The BB comes with either 6 or 12 months of the site already, depending on where you get it, then you have to pay after that. But, considering money saved on health care for complications from being overweight, I think it's a good trade-off! The website's bodybugg.com, I think there are only 3 places you can get one (24 hour Fitness, Apex Fitness, and the NBC site [because they use them on The Biggest Loser]).

WOW! Thanks for the update! I love Nancy Hutzell--she is so nice! I can't believe Nina's little girl is old enough to be a patrol! She was just a baby when we worked together. Nina is another teacher I love. She is a sweetie! Bad news about Terry--hope she gets back soon. Hang in there! I know how long those 2 days can be! The kids and the teachers are all crazy about now--plus this is really late for break! You have had an unbelievably long stretch with no real breaks!

Ahh! Camelot! Isn't that where Nancy Hutzell is??? I've known her for a long time--nice woman! Are Terry Bottomly and Nina Williams (Brown) still at Vienna? I've worked with both of them.
Thanks for adding me as a friend--I've done the same! Have a great week!
