August 2008 Introduction: Hi. I'm Jacque, a 46 year-old, mother of three daughters (two of whom will be in college as of the 22nd of this month), wife, and attorney, who has 61 pounds to lose to reach my goal. Most of my personal enjoyment comes from family and friends (often involving cooking or eating), travel abroad (where we love to visit local grocery stores and restaurants and sample local cuisines), reading (often about food) and cooking/experimenting with new cuisines, foods and recipes--hmmmm . . . beginning to see a pattern here?!?

February 2009 update: I'm still in this and working toward a healthy future. When I began losing weight in June of 2008, I weighed 200 pounds and wore a size 20. I'm currently at 150 but far stronger and healthier due to better eating habits, lots of cardio and strength training, and down 6 dress sizes to a size 8 (and squeeze into smaller sizes on occasion). My goals for the year include a sprint triathlon in early summer and riding across Missouri on the Katy Trail on my bike in the fall.

My Goals:
Just trying to get healthy and build a habit to stay there!

Trying to lower blood presure, to manage arthritis and to avoid diabetes and heart disease.

Mid-term goal: Enough weight loss to fit into my wedding dress by my 6th wedding anniversary on 3/15/09 - ACHIEVED 2/2009(SEE PHOTO GALLERY)

Other goals:
--Have my skirts hang the same length in the front as in the back
--Rid myself of upper arm flabbiness
--Be able to do child's pose in yoga practice without my stomach getting in the way - ACHIEVED
--Re-enter the biking habit - ACHIEVED Fall 2008
--Be small enough that those tiny, little gym towels actually provide meaningful coverage!

Long term goals:
--strong and size 4
--ride across Missouri on the Katy Trail before I turn 50
--complete a triathlon
--strong enough to do 100 regular pushups

My Program:
I'm doing Curves circuit training 3x/week; practicing Yoga 1x/week; taking Zumba class 1x/week; taking another six-week Boot Camp fitness class 3x/week and trying to fit biking in when the weather permits.

Personal Information:
I've been a midwestern girl all my life but have had the good fortune to travel frequently in the past few years.

My favorite activites are reading, cooking, swimming, traveling, and sports (you name it, I like it -- guess that's the competitive edge in me that comes from growing up the youngest of four children and the only (baby) girl.)

    Thanks, Jacque! Yes, I'm still doing really well and I learned a lot from this experience that I can apply to other areas of my life too. Funny how you can intellectually "know" something but you have to go through it to really understand what it means.

    Anyway, I was 146.8 when I stepped on the scale this morning. How that can be, I don't know, but I'll take it as a message from the gods that all is well!
