I'm Jackie, 28 years old, and live in Western Canada. I've been 'wanting' to loose weight for years now, but there's always been something there, some reason or excuse as to why it didn't happen.
I realized when looking at recent pictures of myself was enough to make me cry, that it really was time to make a permanent change.
After fighting my way though anorexia in my teens and early 20's, my metabolism pretty much came to a grinding halt. Then I swung in the total opposite direction, and I gave up control (and caring) completely. In recent years, I stopped enjoying exercising, since I would get embarrassed by how out of shape I was.
I need to be a healthier me - First and foremost so I can be proud to look in the mirror and think "WOW!". Secondly, for the children that my husband and I want to have, to be physically able to live the life I want, to be able to stand proudly at my husband's side and not feel that people are judging him in his career by how out of shape his wife is, but most importantly, so I have as many years ahead of me as possible.
I started this journey at around 240 pounds. Once I saw the scale get up that high, I just didn't step on it again, so I really don't know what my highest weight was - I had my head in the sand for a few years "If I don't see it, it's not real!!"
My Spring/Summer 2011 Goals:
- Break through this plateau and get below 200!
- Start running in the off-months for dance
- No binge or mindless eating in the evenings
- Everything in moderation!
My goals are just to be a healthier person, and weight loss is just an added (although much needed) bonus :)
I have no real program - I'm eating healthy, and try to get as much exercise in.....however working 2 jobs and supporting my husband while he does his Masters means that there is very little time in the day to make it to the gym!
I'm in British Columbia, Canada, and am recovering from a serious accident. in 2007 my leg was crushed, and I spent 4 months in a thigh to ankle brace, which also resulted in a serious blood clot forming. 4 years later I've had my first surgery, and am getting back to life. I may not be able to do everything that I used to, but 2 years ago I started back dancing (Irish Dance), and am thrilled that I'm able to do it!
