I'm Johna. I've been overweight since I was about 5 years old. I've lost count of the number of diets I've attempted and failed. An acquaintance I ran into lost 105 lbs using SparkPeople, so I came to give it a try!

I'm married to a great guy who is very supportive. Recently, the gravity of my weight and health has really sunk in for me. I'm too young to feel like this. Everyday things that I used to take for granted are starting to require effort and planning. My weight is affecting my life...it's killing me.

I'm going to use this forum to work through my food addiction, my body image acceptance, and my lifestyle overhaul to healthful living. I'm going to take this one minute at a time if I have to. I won't give myself the option of failure. Delay maybe, but not failure.

I wish I'd taken charge of myself and my health a long time ago. I wish I had a nickel for every time some (supposedly well-meaning) person had told me in my youth, "You should lose a little weight, dear, you have such a pretty face...."
