Adventures in Semi-Retirement

I have been on SP for about 7 years I think. In that time I lost 20 pounds, maintained it for two years and then gained five pounds per year. Mostly because I went inactive on SparkPeople and fairly inactive in my life. A recent diagnosis of pre diabetes has sent me back to the place where I was initially successful. To do it again. It is frustrating to think I can't wave a magic wand and start my healthy eating at the place I was five years ago but I know what it will take to eventually get there:
1) Exercise at least 45 minutes a day, 6 days a week, as well as walk sufficient steps to total 10,000.
2) Follow healthy eating plan, counting and recording calories, daily. Stick with pre-diabetes plan.

Val, How did they measure your body fat? If it was a scale you stand on or a little machine you hold out with your hands they are notoriously inaccurate. If you want to use body fat as your measure, you may want to check out the BodPod. Underwater weighing is the most accurate method, but hard to find. There are calipers, but I understand it is an art and a science and the results are only as good as the person doing the testing. Honestly, I gave up on using body fat percentage because I think I'm too claustrophobic for BodPod. You may want to ask your doctor (or personal trainer/gym) about measuring body fat. If you come up with an inexpensive non-scary way to measure it, let me know!! -Marsha
