Wouldn't it be nice to just lounge and listen to the ocean roar anytime we wanted?

Adventures in Semi-Retirement

I have been on SP for about 8 years I think. In that time I lost 20 pounds, maintained it for two years and then gained five pounds per year so that I now am heavier than I was when I joined. Mostly because I went inactive on SparkPeople and fairly inactive in my life. A diagnosis of pre diabetes has sent me back to the place where I was initially successful. To do it again. It is frustrating to think I can't wave a magic wand and start my healthy eating at the place I was six years ago but I ...

Mostly because I went inactive on SparkPeople and fairly inactive in my life. A diagnosis of pre diabetes has sent me back to the place where I was initially successful. To do it again. It is frustrating to think I can't wave a magic wand and start my healthy eating at the place I was six years ago but I know what it will take to eventually get there:
1) Exercise at least 45 minutes a day, 6 days a week, as well as walk sufficient steps to total 10,000.
2) Follow healthy eating plan, counting and recording calories, daily.

Just dropping by to say Hello. It has been awhile. I have not been very active on Spark People but I am on track for some serious weight loss. Look forward to sparking with you. I will keep you posted about my progress. Hugs... emoticon

You wanted to know what I'm knitting. I think the proper question is what am I not knitting...

I have at least eleven sweaters in various stages of completion. (I think I must have knitting ADHD... I like to knit them far enough to see what the pattern looks like and then some other pattern catches my fancy.) I also have four baby afghans/blankets in the works. Plus some hats (those I usally get finished in a decent amount of time). And a pair of socks, and a shawl (not prayer), and a scarf or maybe two. And yarn for several more sweaters, and lots more hats, socks, mittens, etc.

I have about three more inches to do on one sweater (a short sleeved cardigan) and since the weather is cooling, I've been better about working on it.

I think it's time to get back to my goal of finishing at least two projects (not hats) before I start a new one.

One of the afghans is in garter stitch and at least for a while until it gets too big, it will be my project to work on during meetings, etc. I call it "mindless knitting." I can pay attention to the meeting because I don't have to look at the knitting.

I hope you have a nice relaxing time working on your prayer shawl.

emoticon Cheers to a happy, healthy August. Not much of it left but we can go out shouting because we're doing great!

How wonderful you have a pool available. Great exercise! emoticon & emoticon . Now that's my kind of program!
