I've always been chunky, but this is getting ridiculous! At 5'2" and 225 lbs, I feel like a bowling ball with legs! Help! I always seem to sabotage myself as soon as I start to lose weight.
I battle withdepression, have high blood pressure, and recently discovered my cholesterol (LDL) is way too high.
I'm muscular by nature, but I'm taking after my dad (to him, salad was for horses and bunnies!) and I don't want to do that anymore. My feet give me problems (some from having worked as a waitress for many years, some just from being overweight) so I've put off walking, which I'd like to get back into on a regular basis. Menopause is not helping with the process either. BUT, I will not let any of these problems rule me! I'm the boss of my life, so I have to make the tough decisions and stick by them. All I need is a little help and emotional support from the Spark!
12/07/08: I've lost 25 pounds since joining Spark, I'm stoked, but need a push to accomplish more a little faster. Learned a lot, need to apply myself more.
12/30/08: Down to 198 and holding, even thru the holidays! ^_^

Fitness Minutes: 3,401

My Goals:
I need to lose about 60 to 75 pounds overall, but I'm going to break it down into 20 lb. mini-goals so it's not so overwhelming.
I want to feel better about myself when I look in the mirror.
My goal is to get my blood pressure down, as well as my bad cholesterol level.
I want to go shopping for clothes and not feel embarrased doing it! I just want to feel better about myself.

My Program:
Update 12/30/08: I'm now working at a job where I'm on my feet all day, pretty much walking/running all over the place, so I guess I should get a pedometer to see how many steps I'm actually taking. On my lunch break, weather permitting, I'm walking around the complex, so I'm adding another mile to my daily steps. Next step is to join a gym so I can do strength training and cardio, and continue to watch what I'm eating. Avoid the breakroom donuts!

Personal Information:
Born in Manhattan, raised in New Jersey, which I left when I was 21 for the dream land of California. Went to Alaska for salmon season 2 years running, and a winter in the Aleutians (Dutch Harbor) processing crab...brrrrr!!
Married once, what a mistake...stayed in a relationship with someone else for 14 years before I finally realized it was killing me, literally, got back with the guy of my dreams, and here I am today, ready to get better! Refuse to grow old gracefully (hence the punk blue hair!). Doing some work with my emotions and trying to figure out my true issues. Getting closer to self-knowledge and now just need self-love to help me on my path.

Other Information:
Love to read, am devouring as many Dean Koontz books as I can find! I enjoy science fiction, quantum physics (but not the math! oy vey!), expanding my mind with philosophy and nature, and love action movies that aren't stupid. Enjoy any movie with Morgan Freeman, Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

    I can understand the "fluffy" feelings - I felt that way most of the weekend and am just tired of it. You WILL make it through this and I will be here to cheer you on the whole time!!! Keep me posted on how you are doing!!!

    Hey there my friend! Thank you so much for the blog comment! I really appreciate it!! I am really happy with the results that I had! The Vegan adventure went great, and I'm reintegrating foods slowly into my diet. So far I've been about 50% Vegan and 50% Omni food and haven't seen much of an issue at all. I think I'll stick with this for a few weeks and see how it goes. I'm going to stay in line with my calorie counts and hopefully continue to see some downward progress on the scale

    And you can totally start working on yourself more consistently!! I know it!!! If I can find the time to do it working 60+ hours a week plus everything else in life - then you totally can too!!!
