Happily married for 48 years now, and almost 70 - and although I have a long way to go yet, I have lots of HOPE now that I am back on SP. I am determined to stick this out to the end (re: pounds to lose) , and then to maintain it for life. That is the key for me...keeping it off. At year's end I have lost 20 pounds here, and aim for 20 lbs+ more in 2014!

We are truly blessed, with a beautiful daughter and terrific grandson and great son-in-law. Our family may be small, but we are close knit, and live near to one another - all of us in the same province. God is good. We are retired but involved in a good (Baptist) church, and serving the Lord brings us joy. Nothing can compare with the joy of His Presence, and I pray every one who reads this page will experience this life as well, with Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and Friend.

Quote; by C.S. Lewis
[To have Faith in Christ] means, of course, trying to do all that He says. There would be no sense in saying you trusted a person if you would not take his advice. Thus if you have really handed yourself over to Him, it must follow that you are trying to obey Him. But trying in a new way, a less worried way. Not doing these things in order to be saved, but because He has begun to save you already. Not hoping to get to Heaven as a reward for your actions, but inevitably wanting to act in a certain way because a first faint gleam of Heaven is already inside you.

Joanie, I didn't know if you heard about the head-on collision accident that I was in. I posted an updated blog about my current injuries. I'm giving you a STANDING OVATION for the goals you have achieved and the progress you continue to make! You are:

Joanie, so sweet of you to stop by and leave your kind comments on my blog! I am so happy for my daughter to have found a man she can build a future with. Thanks for sharing your story and that of your daughter! The stories are very similar to my Annette's! They were going to get married at their home, but then, because she wanted to do it on a Tuesday, on her Grandma's birthday, the plans had to change. The "preacher" was not available that day. emoticon emoticon
