I started Sparkpeople on May 1, 2009. Prior to Sparkpeople I had lost 5 lbs so I really started at 170 lbs. That weight was very uncomfortable. My joints were sore and stiff. I started Sparkpeople on May 1, 2009. Prior to Sparkpeople I had lost 5 lbs so I really started at 170 lbs. That weight was very uncomfortable. My joints were sore and stiff. I was getting indigestion nightly and felt lousy about how I looked. I have lost weight and gained it back several times in my life, but now in my 40's it became so much easier to pack on the pounds and harder to lose them. I truly couldn't imagine what my life at 60 would be if I felt this lousy at 44. I started cutting back on calories and exercising. the first workouts I was doing were Weight Watchers workouts for 30 minutes and Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds. I did these for a couple of months until I had the stamina to do The FIRM again. Now I am doing The FIRM regularly and started the Couch to 5K program and attend Jazzercise once a week. I still have some stiff and sore joints and muscles but overall greatly improved.
My weight loss is rather slow but I'm trying to make real lifestyle changes and that includes some indulgences. I am currently trying to find recipes that I can prepare easily, are healthy and my family likes (or at least doesn't groan when put before them). This is how it has to be for a happy, healthy life.
