Woo Hoo!

I just moved to Seattle for a new job, and I finally have the peace of mind to be able to focus on my healthy lifestyle again. I truly let it slip during the Dog Days of graduate school, and put on 10-20 pounds of "dissertation weight." Now it's coming off, baby.

I want it to come off in a fun way! I want to enjoy the delicious fresh Seattle produce that shows up in the summer time, and enjoy the amazing nature and fitness activities so readily available here. Time to let the work-life balance tip a little bit towards the "life" side. =)

My last goal was to finish my PhD. And It's Done!!!!!! Hooray!

My Goals:
I'd love to get back down to 160. I'll settle with 165, if that feels healthy.

My Program:
I try to stay under 2000 calories a day, but fail sometimes. Spark people is really good at offering alternative mindsets to approach "failure," because it sure can be a downer.

I exercise a lot, in a variety of ways, mostly running, biking, playing gaelic football (like soccer), and some hiking and kayaking. It all comes to about 3000 calories per week. Just keep this up.

I am still learning about portion control. This is tough!

Personal Information:
I'm from Minnesota.
I'm an Oceanographer.
I study Climate.
I'm single! :-)

Other Information:
I like this quote:

It's not true that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Many challenges in life, if not met and addressed, leave us weaker and more vulnerable. It's more true to say that whatever we OVERCOME makes us stronger!

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my page. The back is feeling much better (knock on wood). Not fully healed but considerable progress has been made. Just getting back to running and may even be able to get back to P90X once the in-laws leave next Sunday. Just looking forward to getting back in shape! Still feeling good though and spirits are high! Hope all is well with you!

I have my before pictures all ready to go and plan to post them after 30 days or sooner if I see noticeable results before then, so there will be something to compare them to. Already seeing small changes. . .all the more reason to keep at it! Only one day left this week before my rest day and then I begin week 2! emoticon

Try eating clean! You'll never be hungry again and you will still lose weight!
