Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
The last few years have been a pattern of discouragement over losing weight too slowly or not at all. I continue to gain weight whether or not I've been dieting and quit or just haven't done anything to begin with. I have been wondering if there is some health issue that is not only preventing me from losing weight but is also causing me to gain. It doesn't seem like I've overeating, but I continue to gain. I've been to one doctor, and there wasn't any news. I've decided to give this a try again before I seek a second opinion. October 2013
____________ Time's a Charm?
I feel like I've started over so many times, but I'm feeling dedicated to this one. I've discovered a program called Weigh Down where the idea is to listen to your God-created body for cues about hunger and fullness. I can eat whatever I want as long as my body is hungry. I've done well on it before, but soon stopped listening or overate anyway. When I'd try to start again, I found myself emphasizing the "whatever I want" instead of "hunger." So now I'm doing Weigh Down again, but I'm using Spark People to track so I don't find myself overeating. When I am conscious of what it is I'm eating, I realize I only eat what my body is hungry for and not extra, just because the food is there. I decided I would do this July 1, 2012, and the next morning, July 2, I started. So many "upsets" have happened in my life in the last few years, but I've got to move beyond that and focus on my health and well-being. --July 15, 2012
New School Year-New Attitude
Since the beginning of August trying again but taking it slow and not losing my positive attitude! Slow and steady wins the race...put one foot in front of the other. -August 26, 2009
I had lost quite a few inches but no pounds over the summer, but then we went on vacation and I stopped trying....
And when we got home, I went back to work (school), and still stopped trying.
So, now we're finishing the second week of school, and I'm back in my routine, so I'm starting to work on my diet and exercise, again. -August 29, 2008
I've always had problems with my weight. The first time I remember realizing this was in Kindergarten. It seems as if every time I start a diet, I do really well, but if I ever stop, it's hard to get back on.
Lowering stress level
Raising energy level
Just generally feeling fit
Being comfortable in my skin and my clothing
After teaching High School ESOL for about 7 years, I switched to High School English because there was an opening in the school district in which I live. I loved the ESOL students. They are some of the kindest, most well-behaved, caring kids, and their families are great to work with, too. I am now ready to start my 8th year at my current school, and I feel like I've been around awhile now. I started the position of librarian four years ago and believe it is my new calling.
My husband and I got married July 21, 2007, after a 3-4 year relationship. We have a daughter together, and he has 3 boys from a previous marriage. We're usually running 20 different directions, but when we do all come together, we have a great time!
I read as much as I can, trying to make time for it because I love it so much. I read a lot of young adult novels that my students read.
I also love to scrapbook, but I haven't done much of it lately. I've scrapbooked basically since my daughter was born.
A quote I stole from a fellow sparker:
Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.
And another spark friend gave me this one:
Don't give up what you want the most for what you want now.
