I am, if nothing else, persistent. I have been on Spark People since June 2010 and am still plodding along on my journey to a healthier lifestyle. I am an emotional eater, and have a tendency to procrastinate, which makes establishing good habits a challenge. However I take this journey one step at a time, one day at a time, and eventually, I will reach my goals.

And by perseverance I will reach my goals.

My Goals:
2017 Summer 5% Challenge

Exercise Commitment: I will continue to go to the pool on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. And with summer and warmer weather I will be out in my garden.

Nutrition: I plan to use the Mayo clinic diet program and the Spark People Nutrition Tracker with the goal of staying within my calorie range. I am going back to basics - drinking water ONLY and no sugared drinks, tracking food, menu planning and portion control - all the things I know I ought to do but have been letting slip.

Motivation: 10 reasons I want to lose weight.
I want to:
1. walk without pain
2. prepare for future surgery (hip replacement)
3. be able to go for long walks along the beach without having to stop and rest all the time
4. have my clothes fit better so I look/feel better
5. decrease my risk of diabetes and/or heart disease
6. go up and down stairs without using the chair lift
7. get ready for my Hawaii cruise in September
8. fit

My Program:
-To take this journey one step at a time, one day at a time, and not to beat myself up if I am not perfect. I want to focus on progress and attainable goals.

Personal Information:
I am:
-63 years young
-live in Western Canada
-have 2 furry kids (cats)
-a Christian
-a hummer - (that way I don't have to remember all the words to a song - just the melody); some people find it annoying, but I come from a family of hummers so its genetic

Glad you liked the SWAB routine as an alternative to butt kicking. Even when I'm doing hamstring curls with Jessica Smith, my foot never reaches back that high!

Plus, by wearing the pretty colored bands, you can coordinate with your outfit. Or if those hair things are too tight, you could do the same with a stretch bracelet that's easy to get on and off. I already wear bracelets most days, so wear the hair ties in addition. Though when I was describing the process to Tresa, and reached down to my wrist to show her, I was stunned the band wasn't there--on either arm--until I remembered I used it to pull my hair off my neck and put it in a ponytail! So now I try to remember to wear 2, unless my hair's already up!

Thanks - I think i will so that way she remembers U16 - her time at the camp and works hard for next year. She can do this...you get invited to try out next year!

It has been stressful since she her hip is still not fully recovered. Then we are in Boston for another hockey tournament next week. Prepping for that as well...then off to Italy to visit my mom and dad. My brother will be there with his kids. It will be a fun 2 weeks!
