I am trying to lose weight and get healthier so that I can look and feel better and have more energy.

Growing up I was fourtunate enough to be thin without trying to be, but then at around age 23 I put on 30 pounds within one year without changing any of my habits. And then ten more.... and then some more...

Growing up I was fourtunate enough to be thin without trying to be, but then at around age 23 I put on 30 pounds within one year without changing any of my habits. And then ten more.... and then some more...
Finally about 3 and a half years ago it was finally discovered that I had a slow metabolism and I was placed on thyroid medication. Unfortunately by this time I was addicted to food and feeling really down about myself. And I had almost 30 years of bad eating habits! I did manage to get motivated and worked really hard and went from my weight at that time of 175 to 145 pounds. I wasn't able to keep it off though because I didn't keep it up - I didn't view it as a lifestyle change. I had resentment over how hard it had been for me to lose it and over how hard I would have to work for the rest of my life to keep it off. And I didn't - I started to skip work-outs and cheat with french fries more often (they are my biggest comfort food and challenge) and I put the 30 pounds I had lost back on plus 20 more. So after seeing a picture of me this past Christmas (2008) at my highest weight ever (195 pounds) I decided things had to change. I started exercising and eating better on January 8, 2009 and found spark people through a friend a few days in. I am hoping it will help me stay positive and focused.

I want to view this as a permanent lifestyle change and I feel determined to do so. I am hopeful! And excited! I know that I am a strong person and that I am capable of doing this - so here goes! =)

REWARDS:

190 - New scale (sounds wierd but I need a digital one badly - can't really read my ancient one accurately) - DONE

185 - A pair of jeans that don't squeeze my stomach - FIT IN TO MY OLD JEANS SO THAT WORKS!

180 - A manicure & pedicure

175 - A nice exercise outfit

170 - A fabulous purse (Cause I am half way to my goal!)

165 - A facial

160 - A massage

155 - Flowers

150 - New shoes

145 - Yay! A new wardrobe (as much of one as I can afford) =)

My Goals:
I am trying to lose 50 pounds. My main goal is to be healthier and have more energy. I also want to like the way I look again!

My Program:
I am tracking my food, doing strength training 3 times a week, and cardio 5 times a week.

Personal Information:
I am from Buffalo, New York, but moved out west 8 years ago; initially to Colorado, and then to Cheyenne, WY 4 years ago. I am married, with no kids, and 2 cats. I love the outdoors, reading, traveling, and movies. My favorite t.v. shows are Dexter, The Mentalist, and Fligth of the Conchords.

Other Information:
I am having a 15 year high school reunion at the end of July and hope to be down to at least 160 pounds by then.

Hey!

I am sending out a personal invite to all my spark to The Rocky Summer Challenge, a challenge that is designed to help you build strength in your core, upper body and lower body along with building up your endurance in cardio while also combining the fun of “The Biggest Loser” weight loss idea. This challenge starts on June 1st and will last 4 weeks. Sign up are on my team, “The Challenge” which is located on my sparks page. (The thread is in the introduce yourself forum). More info is included there too (you don’t have to join in order to see the info) and you can email me a request for more details before joining.

We have done this challenge before (before the team was started) and it was a huge success. The request from spark buddies, who took part in this last time, has been tremendous so it’s coming back!!!

I encourage you all to invite a buddy to the team (everything is more fun with a friend) and if you do so, I’ll be pairing you both (or how ever many) onto the same team together. Remember the more the merrier!

Tomorrow is my big day and I weigh myself in. The way I've been feeling I'm hoping I'll see a loss. I really haven't been eating much. I've been so sick the last few days I haven't been able to function. Anyway, with what's come out of me, I should have a weight loss.
