Modern Paelo Athlete in disguise...

MY HISTORY
I've been struggling for my weight most of my life.. it's been a big yo-yo of bad habits. Both sides of my family have their various large share of diseases and cancers.. big ones include Diabetes, Heart Diseases, Lung Cancer, and Alzheimer's.

MY HISTORY
I've been struggling for my weight most of my life.. it's been a big yo-yo of bad habits. Both sides of my family have their various large share of diseases and cancers.. big ones include Diabetes, Heart Diseases, Lung Cancer, and Alzheimer's.

MY NUTRITION
I have chosen to be proactive rather than reactive.. . I'm inspired by the "practically paleo" way of eating.. which means taking a more practical and approachable, modern way of eating the paleo way of eating. My focus making sure i'm getting enough protein, healthy fats, and vegetables.. limiting dairy, alcohol consumption, and carbs. I do have my indulgences from time to time with red wine, dark chocolate, or some fruit. I have noticed my cravings are curbed as my blood sugar stays stable and I'm not hungry as often.. one thing i've noticed when i was on a detox..is when i eliminate dairy, gluten, and alcohol, i'm much less inflamed..for someone with back and knee issues, that's a big deal!

I do try to log my food on Spark People so i stay aware of what i'm putting into my body. Without the support and help in the kitchen from my husband, this transition would be much harder!

STRUGGLES
My main struggle is time management. I work full time and go to school part time. Between work, school, and keeping up with my household responsibilities, it can be a struggle to find energy at times. I need to find my happy place of feeding my body what it needs to keep up with my busy schedule. I also need to find my peak workout times during the week.

I have lower back and knee problems, so I have to be thoughtful in my workouts not to injure myself. I used to run and thats how i lost a lot of weight before, but that is how i also injured myself.. i was too heavy to run and over trained... So I now see the chiro regularly for alignments, and always warm up and stretch my muscles before any workout.

MY PLAN/GOALS
I just joined the Y to incorporate swimming into my weekly work out routine. Swimming once or twice a week, plus Cross Training, strength training.. and eventually when i drop enough weight (thinking down to 180lbs which should be by this fall) I want to start training to run again.

I use Spark to log my food so i stay on track with my nutrition (not just calories, but how i balance my carbs, fats, and proteins). I also have created a time line for the next year with my targeted goals based on my work and school schedule to guide me. It also helps motivate me to push myself and stay on track as I see the end results.



Goals I've accomplished so far:
-climbing 47 flights of stairs at the US Bank building (to benefit lung cancer)
-ran my first 5k at the Summerfest Rock N' Sole allll the way up annnd down the Hoan Bridge in Milwaukee...

eat whole foods

drink 1/2 body weight of water in oz

get 8 hours of sleep per night (this is VERY important).

limit alcohol

Personal Information:
Work full time as a Supervisor, go to school part time. I like to stay pretty busy, but i do really enjoy "me time".
I also like to travel, stay active, be outdoors, spend time with my family, friends, and animals, I oil paint, read, watch junky reality shows..




Other Information:
Losing weight is hard.

heyyy well yea i did see a few huge bugs but im only in pensacola so im not as far south. i came here for my grandson. i been raiseing him for 4 yrs. and his dad lives here(hes my boyfriends brother also) sonow its alot easier on me cause he lives with his dad but i see him everyday! how r you doing? have you lost any wt.? i lost 15 lbs before i moved here but i gained it all back :( but ill never give up!

because that's amazing if it was black in the pic, and the lamp made it look THAT purple. haha.

ugh, i pigged out last night. and i think i need one more pig out before i seriously start eating healthy again. lol. i'm so horrible.

I told myself I'm going to eat healthier again. I got myself a new bf so we've been going out to eat a lot. It SUCKS! lol. But yes, hopefully I'm back and hopefully I'll lose some real weight this time. I'm sick of going back to bad habits.
