REmotivated Mama

Hi everyone! My name is Jess and I'm a 30 year old single mother of one 9 year old little boy. I began my weight loss journey with a vengeance at the beginning of 2012 after attending my 10 year high school reunion over the summer. I realized how big I had gotten and how terrible I looked when I saw the pictures from that time. It still took me a couple of months of fighting with myself to come to the conclusion that even if I failed miserably, I had to make a change in my life.

Throughout my journey so far, I've learned that I've been hiding behind my weight for a number of reasons. I have also found that as I'm losing weight I've found many things about myself that I love, but I'm finding that there are still things about me that I don't love yet. I say yet because I know I'll reach that point, but I'm not there yet.

During my journey, I hit a plateau pretty hard and gave up on myself and my journey with the belief that if there was no weight loss, there was no success. I forgot that my journey is not only about weight loss, but about overall health and improving my way of life. I regained all that I lost and have had to start over again. It's been a humbling experience. I'm picking myself up and not letting this fall back get the best of me. I CAN be successful!

The things I'm looking forward to the most when I get to a more healthy weight are running around and playing with my son without getting tired so quickly, shopping with my best friend at the same store and not having to go to a plus size store or section, not being self conscious about my size when I walk into a new situation, not having to worry about whether a chair is going to break when I sit down on it, no longer needing to use a CPAP to sleep, and so many other things it's hard to list them all.

At the moment my favorite form of exercise is the Nia Technique. I've posted a few videos about it in my blog. It's basically a combination of martial arts, the dancing arts and the healing arts (yoga). It's a ton of fun and doesn't feel like exercise. When I get done with a class I feel energized and ready for my day. I also enjoy doing my Bob Harper Beginner's Weight Loss Transformation. It's a hard core workout, but I feel very strong and trim when I get done. I have a few other Bob Harper workout DVDs now that I'm just starting to use and walking is always my go-to workout for days that I'm sore or just not feeling other forms of exercise.

Regardless of my setback... I'm learning new things about myself everyday. To show you how far I've come, I've included my original introduction.

Original Introduction:
My name is Jess and I'm a 28 year old single mother of one 7 year old little boy. I've started my weight loss journey more than once, but give up very easily when I see no results. I'm working with some friends this time, so hopefully I'll do better.

My Goals:
I have reassessed my goals recently and am focusing on overall health rather than only on weight loss. Weight loss, of course, is a desired side effect; however, I am doing this for health purposes.

My Program:
I'm going to reduce my calorie count, and vary my workouts to keep myself interested. I will seek support as necessary and NOT give up on myself ever again.

I will be walking and using DVD workouts from Bob Harper.

Personal Information:
My name is Jess and I'm a 30 year old single mother of one. I live with my parents due to financial reasons. I'm a full time college student and a part time resolution specialist at a local call center. My son is the light of my life and one of my main motivators.

Other Information:
I'm an avid reader. I go through many books and even have a 5 shelf bookshelf that's double stacked on all shelves. I'm also a movie lover, I generally stay away from horror, but otherwise I'm pretty open.

Hey Jess,

So sorry you are still in a plateau. I just know it will break soon. Hang in there. Yes, you have come to far and you look so wonderful. Something has to give soon and it will. I am doing good. I am going to have to have back surgery and surgery on my feet it seems. Dread it. I broke my body down with my weight. Now I have to pay the piper. Hopefully the surgeries will get me back in shape. I am presevering, though. I will never give up and neither should you. You are a winner. Just look at you! You have been successful and you will continue to succeed. You are just a little stuck at the moment. When this plateau breaks for you, it will be like a river dam breaking. The weight will start coming off in a flood. Just wait and see.
