I'm Jessica, and I live in Columbia, SC with my husband, two dogs, guinea pig, and fish. :) I'm a newly certified elementary school teacher currently looking for a job. With grad school this past year, I definitely gained weight and lost sight of my fitness goals. I'm heavier than I've ever been, and I know that if I want to have children in the next couple of years, I need to gain control of not just my weight but my daily lifestyle choices as well. I want to be a healthy role model for my students and future children, so I'm back on Spark and ready to get healthy again with the help of my Spark friends! I'm currently doing the Insanity program from BeachBody, so follow my blog to keep track of my journey as I hopefully lose weight but at least lose gallons of sweat every night. Big, lofty, long-term goals: Lose 60-65 pounds Run a marathon Complete a triathlon Make healthy food choices as part of my lifestyle Attainable, short-term goals: Lose 1-2 pounds per week Begin C25K program Mix in different cardio at the gym 5/7 days per week Track calories and stay in range 5/7 days per week

My Goals:
HEALTH GOALS: -Lower my cholesterol so that I don't have to go on medicine -Overall increase my intake of fruits and veggies -Drink 8 glasses of water per day -Track calories consistently -Lose 60-65 pounds -Have more confidence overall! FITNESS GOALS: -Run a marathon -Complete a triathlon -Feel stronger and have more stamina in general. -Make exercise become a normal part of my day and something that I consistently look forward to.
My Program:
I am strictly following the SP lifestyle change plan - counting calories, exercise, drinking plenty of water, and adding fruits and veggies to my diet. I am also trying the Insanity workout program as well as a C25K podcast.
Personal Information:
I am from Columbia, SC, and I graduated from the University of South Carolina where I met my husband, Brett :) I got my degree in piano performance in 2007 and a master of arts in teaching in 2011. I am currently looking for an elementary teaching position.
Other Information:
I love to read, watch movies and TV, listen to music, play piano, and play games (although I get a little too competitive sometimes!).
