Reinventing Me

I'm retired! 30+ years in teaching went by in what seems like no more than 70 or 80 years. (Naw. Just kidding. Loved the kids - hated the bs...). A life-long struggle with depression has not helped me much in my effort to maintain my health. I thought it would be easier now that my time is my own, but it really isn't. A life-long struggle with depression has not helped me much in my effort to maintain my health. I thought it would be easier now that my time is my own, but it really isn't. It's still a major effort to get myself to work out - just as it's an effort to get myself to do things I've waited all my life for the time to do - writing music, writing a novel, getting serious about my photography, home brewing... But I'm trying to win one battle at a time - instead of focusing on the whole war, which seems overwhelming at times. Divorced. Have a son who is a freshman in college, and is everything to me. Struggling with guilt, fear of losing my son, loneliness. The dark cloud is never far behind...

Want to lose about 15 lbs., greatly improve cardio and strength status, and stop allowing life to "happen to me!" I want to feel good - inside and out!

Cardio every other day - mostly running. Weight training on non-cardio days. Trying to improve eating habits!

Hi, I noticed you want to write a novel and thought I'd tell you about a group I'm in that has been very helpful. I think it's called Tips For Writing. I think there's more to the title of the group but that's all I remember.

Thanks for the comment on my blog! I have chosen not to try running while I do Insanity. Only if I really feel the urge to go (or for my race this weekend). Insanity is just too demanding. I might have the energy for a run or two during the week but only short runs! I am going to try to find a 5K that is at the end of the program to test if I got faster!
