I've been on Spark for years. And then off. And then on. And then off.

I came back for a while and thought that I had conquered all of the demons that seemed to keep me going back to fat. Then I lost it again.

In January of 2016, not at my heaviest weight, but not far from it, I decided to make a change. I decided I had to learn what my demons were to conquer them.

I started a program, and I gave myself rules. I gave up sugar for a time (mostly just because I struggled with it) and I worked out. I tracked my food. Then, I realized something. One demon was my binges. I needed to stop them, or help control them. I also needed to control how I responded to them. In the past, I would binge for a day or two, or longer. I'd let it turn into more instead of pushing myself out of it. I would avoid spark to avoid the shame and friends that would encourage me to get back at it.

My rules now are no more than 1 day off spark. No more than 1 day of a true binge. No giving in. No days off from my workouts (barring injury or illness). What I do is not workout to punish myself, but to treat myself well. I eat to treat myself well. I work on moderation in all things.

I'm not perfect, but I'm making progress, and I love it.

I will make my goals and maintain. I'm almost there.

*Wear a single digit pant size

*Be excited to go clothes shopping

*Run a 5k with my sisters

*Be able to buy a pair of cute boots and wear them on the outside of my jeans.

*Put on my goal jeans and have them fit


My Program:
I workout usually 6 days a week, but also try to remain active EVERY day getting my 10k of steps in every day. I love weight routines and cardio.

Other Information:
Love to read, love movies (my huge downfall since that is sitting and snacking epitomized) and trying to get on the bandwagon of loving to work out!

    Hi,

    Thanks for your post on the message board about what you do at home for exercise. I am slowly building a home gym for myself. I am buying a treadmill in August. Right now I mostly walk with my dogs and do weight training with free weights. I think I am going to have to be more disciplined and practice Tai Chi at home. Like one of your blogs said, you have make yourself get up and exercise like it or not. (paraphrased). All the Tai Chi centers where I live are far away. Doing Tai Chi without a group is not ideal, but with the help of You Tube I think I can make it work. I just have to stick with the program and not give up. My family is very supportive with whatever I do for myself. Plus they are healthy models for me. That's a plus, for sure.
