I REFUSE to do that "gain it all back plus more" thing that I have been doing since my teen years.
In December of 2007, hubby wanted to join the gym for work, and I tagged along...and suddenly, decided that life is too short to be fat forever. I dropped nearly 40 pounds following Spark and exercising.
Now it's 2012- We moved to the Bay Area, and I've regained slightly more than half of what I lost. It stops here. I am not buying bigger jeans ever again!
I've wandered off the road a few times, and had a couple of setbacks, but I am determined- and I am in this for the long haul.

Originally, I wanted to get down to my "wedding weight" of 200 lbs- and I lost 65 lbs. to get there in 2002. Over the years I kept off 15, but regained the rest. Now, I am gunning for my college freshman weight- 180.
Believe it or not, I am around a size 12/14 at 200 lbs, so I am thinking 180 is going to be around a size 10.
Is all over the place. I have to do this with the Mad Eye Moody refrain "constant vigilance" method, because I can eat a Twinkie and gain 10 lbs. Thanks, metabolism!
If you're wondering why my nutrition tracker here on Spark says I am eating bacon, eggs, cream, and coconut oil- I've decided to jump off the constant cardio and calorie logging bandwagon and started following the Primal Blueprint in February of 2010. I am really enjoying it, and it is working for me so far.
Happily married to a great guy for 9 years.
Kids may be on the horizon, we shall see!
I have a menagerie- two dogs, and one crazy, NOISY green parrot named Vegas.
Hubby and I moved to the Bay Area from the San Joaquin Valley in late 2008- I love it here, but am still adjusting.
I love to read, knit, watch movies, listen to music, and my fave physical activity would have to be swing dancing.
To answer a few often asked questions:
Re: sunglasses- I wear hard contacts, and glare from the sun makes me squint. I wear sunglasses in my progress pix to make it easier to get a decent shot of me. Taking pix is nervewracking for me anyway, so I'd rather have my eyes covered than be making faces in each shot!

Hence the "If you can afford to" part. It takes a lot of money to keep an affiliate in business - mostly it's the insurance they have to pay that's the killer. $150 is par for the course from what I've heard. Which unfortunately prices it directly out of my range. But what I would try is getting with the affiliates and asking them about an on-ramp program with them - that would get you the skills you need for the movements. Then if you liked working out there, you could see if they have a punch-card deal where you buy 10 visits at once or something.
Crossfit is amazing. And it is possible to do on your own if you want/need to. Glad you're going to give it a shot!
