I have gained and lost hundreds of pounds in my life, and I want OFF that roller-coaster forever. My first stint of weight loss occurred when I was 13, after being overweight most of my childhood. I regained that weight (perhaps 40 pounds) within a year and went on to gain another 100 pounds over the next few years. At age 18, I weighed nearly 300 pounds. For a variety of reasons, I lost about 150 pounds very quickly - within the course of a year - and I maintained that weight loss within +/- 30 pounds for about a decade. Life was OK.

And THEN...I took a new job, moved to Florida, and owing to the stress of my new job, I started drinking heavily, overeating, and gaining weight. Within two years, I had gained about 75 pounds. I got the new-job stress under control, got my workout routine and diet in gear, and managed to lose 30 pounds. Things were looking up again.

And THEN....I took a new job and moved to DC. Again with the stress, drinking, overeating, and weight gain. I've been here for about a year, and one day I woke up and realized I'd gained 25 pounds back. That day was June 3rd, 2011.

On June 4th, I had had it. I had been on SparkPeople before (and owe at least 15 pound of my 30 pound loss back in 2010 to it). I knew it worked. I just needed to rededicate myself to it and get back on track.

So I did. It's August 19, 2011 and I've lost about 22 pounds this go 'round. I have about 50 pounds left to lose. I'm going to lose it.

And THEN....I'm done with this yo-yo. I am determined to live at a healthy, comfortable weight for the rest of my life. I'm 35, and it only gets harder to lose from here.

My Goals:
I want to improve my relationship with my body, food, and my emotional health.

I want to lose approximately 60 pounds.

I want to have a fit, tone body and am willing to work hard for it!


My Program:
For now I am focusing on staying within my calorie, fat, carb, and protein ranges. I'm aiming to lose 2 lbs. a week, so my calorie range for right now is 1200-1550. I'm also exercising four times a week for approximately one hour - interval training cardio plus strength.



Personal Information:
I am originally from Northeast NC, but I haven't lived in my home state for about five years. I'm currently in the DC metro area.
