READY TO LOSE IT ALL

Hi, I'm Jeanette from Charlotte, NC. I joined Sparks in June 2008 and have enjoyed the journey. I love family, God, animals and flowers. God is the center of my life and health is my motivation for weight loss. Since losing some of my weight, my blood pressure is consistently reported as on target. My cholesterol is also in good range. My better diet and exercise have already changed my life.

EDIT 9-17-12: A New Start AGAIN - Now at 180 AGAIN--i have more wt. to lose to get to my goal of 165. I've re-joined FIRECRACKERS 5 % team and will do all I can to lose at least that 5 % which will be 9lbs approximately. A lot in 8 weeks, but I CAN do this. I WILL DO THIS. I will go to Curves 3x / week, eat right and drink my water. These are the tools to get me where I need to be.

EDIT-3-1-2010: On Jan 1 this year I had 2 mini strokes, each ending up leaving 2 spots of placque in my retinal eye, which have left me with vision impairment. It has been very difficult to adjust to my new way of life which include major diet changes, but I am extremely grateful that the plaque fragments went to my eye and not to my brain, which could have caused major loss of the use of other parts of my body. I think God was directing in that instance and kept me from major handicap. The question I now ask myself is: Why did God leave me here, and what does He want me to do for Him? I want to do His work daily.

I'm in this thing of weight loss for the long haul, until I'm at goal and will not give up till I get there. I'm looking at 165 but WW tells me 150 is goal wt. I don't know if that's a good target. I'll aim for the 165 now, and if I get there, I'll see what my body says.

(edit:3/11/10 - I'm at 170.1 and still going WOOHOO) I lose slowly but surely and that's ok, just so I keep on the down slope!

I am a positive thinker so would rather think of the pounds lost than the pounds to go :0)

WHATEVER IT TAKES is my motto. I am willing to give it my all to get healthy. I've done enough damage to this 70 yo body. Now it's time to take care of it.

So --I'm in this to lose and already have lost...70.5 lbs

ADDED FEB. 4, 2010
Tomorrow is Feb.5, my 71st birthday. I am healthier today than I was 2 years ago. Weight loss and exercise is the reason why.

Jan. 2010 started in the hospital for me...facing the reality that my bad eating habits had caught up with me: I was having TIA - mini stroke, pieces of plaque from my carotid arteries flaked off and lodged in the retinal artery, causing partial vision loss in one eye. Considering that it could have gone to my brain and caused loss of any number of bodily functions, I thank God it was not worse.
I also face the reality that I MUST MAKE SOME MAJOR CHANGES IN MY LIFE: beginning with diet and moving to exercise--does that sound familiar??
Both areas are the main things Spark zeroes in on.
SOoo I will be eating a large percentage of raw fruits and vegetables to get the fiber and minerals which will help my heart health, I will be spending more time at my choice of exercise which is Curves-the total body workout in strength training, cardio and aerobics. I will be eliminating as much sodium/salt, trans fats and cholesterol from my diet as possible.
These precautions will both help my heart health and promote weight loss.
AT 175.5 I have now lost 68.5 pounds. My personal goal is 165 which means I only have 10.5 pounds to go. These last pounds are coming off slowly so I will have to be very consistent in my resolve to stick to the above goals.

My Goals:
My primary goal is to become as healthy as I can be so that I will live long enough to see my grandchildren grow up. Family is extremely important to me and I am convinced that Grandmom is important to family, so, I MUST have a healthy body which means lower BMI -- I couldn't believe I was classified OBESE!!!! I WILL NOT STOP UNTIL I AM DOWN IN THE NORMAL RANGE OF BMI.'
So, Goal #1 - lower BMI to normal
2. Weight to normal for my height
3. Have better health, BP,cholesterol
EDIT Jan.2012-Dr.tests and says cholester and triglycerides are excellent.PRAISE THE LORD.

My Program:
With the help of God I will meet my goals by healthy eating and daily exercise. I use the CurvesSmart program to give my body a precise workout.

Personal Information:
I am an open book so everything about me is open to you. I am a 71 year old lady from North Carolina, lived in MD until 1994, then moved to PA until 2007 when we moved to NC. Have 2 daughters age 50 and 47, and bonus boy age 34. Grands are 31, 27, 25,17 and 2. Loving life but wanting to see 'less of me' in my body. Have lost 75 lbs as of 4/1/2010 and hope to be down to 165 by the end of summer.

Other Information:
My favorite book would be the Bible since I read it daily. It is my strength in times of weakness.

Jen ~ How is your recuperaton going? Are you doing okay with therapy? Hope that things are going the way you want them to. How is Sharon? Think of you both so very much. The next round of BLC will be starting in less than a month. Don't know what to expect. Hoping it will be a good one. The break is going slow. Kinda boring. I miss being active on a team. How are you liking the new team that you are on? My weight is coming off pleasingly. Have lost 53+ since Aug. Working hard at getting it off. Staying with the program. Let me hear from you.
