About Me:

Well I have always been somewhat pudgy (although my mother would disagree). My dad says that my grandmother would “fatten me up” as a kid. I would say I am a member of the “clean your plate club”. My grandfather did it with my mother and in a way it was just part of growing up. I have always had a healthy appetite. I love anything that is carb. Rich; cake, cookies, bread, pasta, if it has any form of starch in it you can rest assured it is a tempting treat to me.

I signed up at Spark in 2007 after a double run at Boot Camp in my local gym and Weight Watchers online. I got down to 208lbs (the pics to the left). Became complacent, and gained it all back and then some. I now sit at 260lbs. I am officially closer to 300lbs and that much closer to diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol (all of which are apparent in my family). It finally hit me that as the years progress so does my weight. No matter how much I wish it would happen magically I know it won’t. I have to do the work. No excuses. And I realize it took me 30 years to put this weigh on it isn’t coming off overnight.

I am taking small steps toward a healthier me. This is a lifestyle and not a diet. I know that now. And I am ready to make the change. I have always looked at eating out as “how often do I do this…I can splurge” but I know that I “splurge” more than occasionally. And in the long run…it’s not worth it.

So here I am, willing to put myself out there to anyone who wishes to see my journey. I hope I am able to keep myself motivated. Here we go!

My Goals:
Short Term Goals(09/24/2009) - (10/02/2009):

1.) Be honest about what I am eating. And log it in everyday.

2.) Make it through week one...and move from there.

3.) Commit to a workout three times this week.

4.) Remember that it takes time to form changes into habits. Take it one day at a time.

My Program:
Week 1:

1.) Log EVERYTHING I eat.

2.) Consume 8 glasses of water a day.

3.) Commit to 3 days in the gym and log activity and progress.

4.) Worry about next week...next week.

Asian food was always such a foreign (haha) thing to me, but simplifying it has turned out so much easier for me! I love those rolls too and I plan to try them as well. I have, however, made my own california rolls. That seaweed paper is a lot easier to figure out than I thought! hahaha

Tonight I made my Thai spicy mint noodles and they were absolutely fabulous. For the Pad Thai I suggest trying peanut sauce ( Mine is in the asian aisle of my grocery store) with the rice noodles. I didn't use any oil and it still tasted wonderful! I grated carrots like noodles and a whole onion which really bulked it up for hardly any calories. Don't be afraid of Thai food! Lesson learned today! lol
