Just looking for the right kind of motivation to turn my lifestyle into a healthy one. I want to stop my bad behaviors before they turn into diseases, such as diabetes or heart failure. The excuse "I'm still young" doesn't last forever...

I just turned 27 years old and I sat down and thought about all the bad habits I've had my entire life so far - I'm not active at all, the food I eat has ZERO nutritional value, and I procrastinate all the time. I feel that now, at 27, it's time for me to start growing up. If I don't start changing the way I treat my body, it's not going to be useful to an old age. It will be a sick, tired, obese body. I need to change the things about me that contribute to poor health. THAT's what is the difference between a diet and a lifestyle change.

***UPDATE 07/27/2011*** I'm trying to change my mentality of losing weight, and since I don't really have any tangible things for a deadline, I want to try to focus more on getting healthy and more active and strong, and letting weight loss be a side effect. I'm 27 now, and I want to start living my life like a real adult, and quit blaming my bad habits on my upbringing.

In May of 2006 I joined SparkPeople, spent most of the time lurking and getting used to the small website, but loved it instantly.

In January of 2007, at 240 pounds, I started my journey to lose weight. By the end of March I was down to 217. Then I lost all motivation.

Between 2007 and 2011 I have been on-and-off-again, but for the most part maintained between 220 and 240 pounds.

Christmas Eve of 2010, I decided to throw out all of my old documentation, because - trust me - there was A LOT!! I took my FINAL set of "STARTING PHOTOS" and measurments.

Now, in 2011 From here on out, I'm not going to go all-or-nothing. I'm not going to "start over" again. This is going to be a constant work in progress until I'm done.

My Program:
I have plenty of resources to work with - I have a gym membership at a 24-hour gym, I have *MANY* DVDs and VHS tapes and equipment to use at home, I live very near a paved trail in a safe neighborhood, and I have a Wii Fit. Not to mention the numerous resources on the internet.

The only "plan of attack" I have at this point is to USE THEM! :)

Other Information:
I am 27 years old and work evenings (on my butt, all evening) as a medical transcriptionist. I am currently living in my own house with a roommate and 3(adorable) cats. I have been overweight all my life, and I'm just trying to take control of my size and my health, before it's too late.

    Hey thanks for checking out my blog and I totally don't care that you share a link to my blog, actually if it is motivating to you I would be thrilled if it would also help someone else.
    It wasn't an easy thing to post those pics because my before's sure are pretty awful but it is a reminder to me of exactly what I won't allow myself to go back to.

    Congrats on taking off that plastic and hope you put it in!!! It is awesome. Good luck hon with all you do and hope I see your 30 day results!!

    Hey Jen!

    Um... as you could tell from my statuses, I was very indecisive and poor. I didn't work so didn't see him there and didn't go to work so I didn't see him there, either, lol.

    As for the next month or so, you CAN and WILL do it! What helps you the most? Planning ahead of time? Sneaking it in? Are you a social person? Maybe going to a group x class? They have free Zumba at the point on Mondays now.
