My Journey

Hi! My name is Jen, I am 30 years old and am married to my wonderful Husband, Mike. I am the proud "Mommy" to our two dogs Bella and Jake. :)

I have struggled with my weight pretty much my whole life, but my life changed on April 20, 2012 when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Getting that diagnosis was a HUGE wake up call for me... I needed to do something!

I joined Sparkpeople in April 2013 after my dietician suggested this site for me. In just over a years time ...

I joined Sparkpeople in April 2013 after my dietician suggested this site for me. In just over a years time I have made drastic changes to improve my health, and am happy to say my diabetes in well under control!

Since joining Sparkpeople, I have lost over 50 pounds. I am hoping to get support and guidance from others experiencing this same journey, and am excited to see where the help from this site takes me!

My Goals:
-To lose weight and be healthy.

-To keep my diabetes under control

-Work out at the gym at least 5 days a week.

-Stay motivated!!

My Program:
-Using Sparkpeople to log food daily

-Using Sparkpeople for motivation, reading success stories, ect.... keeps me going.

-Watching what I am eating and being more aware of portion sizes

- Joined a gym and working out there

- Taking my dogs for daily walks

- Long bike rides around town
